Yes, immigration agents not only took Arnoldo's phone, the 10th grader had to use Find My Phone to locate it — in a vending machine for used electronics, close to an ICE detention center.

The Trump administration is psychologically incapable of backing down, which means that I would give it even odds that they attempt this.

The biggest obstacle would be that it will be very hard to find a grand jury in Minneapolis to approve it.
This is appalling: Top DOJ officials are actively pushing for a criminal investigation into the widow of Renee Good, leading prosecutors to quit en masse, NYT is reporting.

Who in the White House ordered DOJ to do this? That's the next thing to establish.
