Random reminder that Jim O'Neill (guy on the left) worked directly for Peter Thiel for nearly two decades until joining this administration.
BREAKING

The Trump administration says it has frozen all childcare payments to Minnesota in the aftermath of allegations of fraud by some in the Somali community.

Important: allegations along these lines have existed for years, which has resulted in prosecutions starting with the Biden DOJ.

A small number of people whose extreme wealth exerts a political gravitational force that distorts the entire political system is bad, actually. It has been recognized as a threat to free liberal republican government since the first time it emerged in the Gilded Age.

Many years ago I was at the North Star Bar in Philly watching the opening band Vietnam. A very nice and chatty guy sidled up to me and kept telling me how great the band was. When they finished he shook my hand and said "I gotta go!" About 20 minutes later he (Evan Dando) walked on stage.
Right folks. Feeling rather down at the moment so bringing back an oldie

AI avatars have arrived at the University as teaching assistants
By utilizing the AI avatars to teach new sections of the class, the program expanded this past Fall semester.

this seems specifically designed to break mail-in voting (where deadlines are defined by postmark)
As of 12/24/25, USPS changed policy on when they postmark mail. Mail dropped off is no longer guaranteed a same-day postmark. Tax returns & other time-sensitive items are now stamped when they reach a regional processing center, which may be days later. Plan deadlines accordingly to avoid penalties.

Hello. We spent much of the long weekend trying to figure out if trump, in our name, had in fact bombed Venezuelan soil. What we found including from some senior government appointees only raised more questions than they answered

Same is true of what trump said today
“But in a modern, free, and truly democratic society, it should not be a mystery for days to its population and its voters whether or not their president has just bombed a new sovereign nation, without any declaration of war – all while the federal government that’s funded by our tax dollars…

I assume UPS, FedEx, et al postmark at the time of delivery? My gut instinct is this is more abt pushing privatization more than hurting vote-by-mail, but I could be wrong.

I’m also guessing undermining USPS will, like so many Trump policies, hurt his (rural-heavy) base more than his detractors?

Seems to me if voting didn’t matter the people who benefit most from the destruction of democracy wouldn’t be trying so hard to demolish democracy
USPS quietly changed its postmark rules — mail is no longer dated when you drop it off. The “official” date is when it hits automated sorting — sometimes days later

Which could have major implications for mail in voting — it’s a clever way to disenfranchise voters that’s going largely overlooked

This happened right as early voting began in state elections; voters re-elected Gov. Walz and gave Democrats a trifecta. It was a damaging scandal, but hardly covered up. Rs whacked at it when Walz became VP nominee, but it didn't become a decisive issue.
