I think a thing we'll learn tonight is that people fucking hate what is going on and they will straight ticket vote against anyone involved in starving people while pillaging the country and kidnapping their neighbors. I don't think it matters at all who that person is.

A decision today by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit protects furnace standards set to reduce heating costs for many households-- saving households replacing an inefficient furnace with a new model an average of $350 over the life of the furnace.

#DesMoines Do not let them use the Roberts situation to sink this bond issue! It’s critically needed!
BREAKING: last night we learned the Taxpayers Association of Central Iowa endorsed the $265 million bond in support of the Reimagining Education initiative, expressing “confidence in the district’s strategic approach.” Read the entire endorsement on our website. www.dmschools.org/news_release...

“mr speaker do you have any concerns about the amount of information your staff is apparently hiding from you” is a pretty obvious question that needs to be asked
Q: What's your reaction to yesterday's purge of senior ICE officials? When is it time for Congress to do some oversight?
MIKE JOHNSON: I don't know any of the details of that yet. I just heard about that, literally I was walking in.

Again, the thing that explains the last decade of GOP politics best might be Iowa legislators trying to end all research agreements with Stanford after their marching band made a Farmers Only joke during the Rose Bowl halftime show
The president got his feelings hurt, so we're doing 10% more tariffs on Canada. Joke of an administration.

Politics aside, just raising a 13yo boy, it would’ve been nice to have a high profile example of this! Constant battle to get to understanding and embrace if the difference between ‘say whatever gets me out of trouble as fast as possible’ and actual apology and care.
Ok I’m going to stop talking about it but for me, the issue is the lack of contrition and wanting to learn from the mistake. All I hear from Platner is excuses- I was young, I was drunk. What i don’t hear is- this is how I will be better. Do we need more dudes who think their shit doesn’t stink?

It shouldn’t be controversial across the Dem left spectrum to say “Whatever I thought of his message, not taking care of this on his own prior or at the very beginning of his campaign raises some valid questions of his judgment as a potential senator”
I think there was a way back from this if he acted on it 6 months ago. 'I got a dumb tattoo and now I'm going to livestream getting it covered up while I talk about the economy' would have been epic. But we can't pigstick GOP staffers for making nazi jokes on telegram and give this guy a pass
“No matter what, don’t give anyone the chance to have made a mistake or have suffered from ignorance” is the kind of bullshit thinking that keeps good candidates from winning and helps elect shitty republicans. If the only thing that makes him a Nazi is a tattoo, IS HE a nazi?

I know lots of people think it's conscious bias, but my theory for why stuff like the Trump king shitting video, or the demolishing the White House story, doesn't really get the right prominence in the news is basically this:

Iowa GOP U.S. House members warn shutdown 'inflicting real harm' on Iowans
Iowa's all-Republican U.S. House delegation is urging Senate Democrats to back a bipartisan plan to reopen the government, warning that the 20-day shutdown is hurting families, farmers and veterans across the state. Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer said Republicans are refusing to negotiate over what he called a looming health care crisis at the center of the government shutdown stalemate.

Schools should be allowed to issue and enforce tickets on parents that can’t follow proper pick-up/drop-off procedures. Dump the proceeds into budget for additional bus routes, crossing guards, etc
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?

I’d also add that #asthma is the leading correlation of absenteeism (see below), and a serious effort to combat those absences needs to seriously engage with the causes of poor indoor/outdoor air quality in those families homes.
