As someone with claustrophobia, this is my f*cking nightmare. And why I try and avoid taking BART to the city.
BART service has stopped in the Transbay Tube between West Oakland and Embarcadero due to a PG&E electrical outage. Bus service is available via AC Transit bus lines N/L, O & F.

Wheee! (Little quake felt in #Oakland just now)

Based on the posts I'm seeing, so many of you watched the convicted felon's speech. Why did you do this to yourselves? I'd rather get a med-free root canal than listen to his rantings -- wouldn't you?

Simplisafe really needs to add 24 hour mute functionality for sensors to their mobile app. And some sort of intelligence that alerts users to low batteries only during daylight hours (NOT at 11pm when I'm nearly asleep.) sigh.

Anthony Geary and the Reiners. Fuck off already, 2025.

In an already awful year, 11 Jewish souls were massacred today in Sydney on the first night of Hanukkah. May their memories be blessings to their loved ones and inspiration to the greater Jewish community. Between this and the human swastika created by high schoolers this week, we're hurting.

I had three separate flights cancelled and a maintenance delay out of MDW and ORD yesterday. Finally landed at SFO at 5am today. And I thought Chicago could handle some weather. Ugh.

Just poured boiling water over my hand while draining pasta. It did not feel awesome. Here's hoping everyone else's night is less painful.

Got my first "I don't think you're grieving the right way" comment recently. While it seemed to come from a place of caring (and some irritation), it really threw me.

Protip: no matter your intention, NEVER say this to a grieving person. Until you go through the same experience, you have NO right.

Looking forward to learning all about how the right should move left to win elections tomorrow. They should maybe dye their hair pink, learn to love pronouns.

Fellow Oaklanders and East Bay folks - the new East #Oakland Hyphy Burger opened earlier this week! International Ave, just south of 98th.

Is anyone tracking baseball teams that have the fewest number of players spitting or chewing their cud? Do players still gnaw on tobacco or is it just seeds/bad habits? Either way, such a gross habit. Get these guys therapy for their oral fixation already!

Ditto. And when I couldn't give money, I gave them my time. YMMV, but most food banks need volunteers to help sort, bag, and distribute food! If you have a free morning or day, consider volunteering (and see if your employer is willing to let your team do it during working hours).
You know what we donate to the local food pantries? We donate MONEY. Because they can turn that money into what those they serve need the most. I do not know what those folks need better than the food pantry does. So I give them my dollars and they turn them into something useful.
Sweet Jesus, do not donate seeds to your food bank in October. Honestly, don’t donate seeds to your food bank unless you are specifically asked to, and even then I would think REALLY HARD about whether that’s regionally appropriate.

When I needed food donations, I was in student housing.

Just made a prime rib for the first time ever and nailed it. Today was the first day I've felt close to normal since my mom was rx'd with metastatic cancer in May and died in August. Used her cutting board and utensils, and the roast she'd bought & frozen. Assuming that's why it tasted fantastic. 💔

Please don’t share deepfake “AI” videos. Even as a joke. Not cute.

So tonight kicks off the Jewish new year and high holidays, goyim are claiming that there's a rapture in the next couple days, and we're having a series of little earthquakes in the bay area. Oy vey. This Jew is tired and done with this year.

Well, I guess it's that time of the year again. Time to get these cut up and juiced. 🌱

✅ Flu vax
✅ updated COVID vax

Feeling more grateful than usual to live in CA today and get both jabs without any issues.

Oh man, this hurts. My first job after college was working for Heyday in sales/marketing/PR from '99-01. I learned so much from Malcolm. His memory will surely continue to be a blessing to his family, friends, and the huge community he built.

I was gifted this lovely little plant recently. 🌱 buddies -- is this a begonia? Seek couldn't provide a definitive answer.

There goes one pair of gardening shoes.... My newer pair of Keens are still in too good shape to be demoted, so I may need to splurge on proper gardening shoes. What are your faves, fellow 🌱 pals?

A curse on the financial institutions and their employees who chose to fuck with me and my family today: may they be blessed with the same levels of customer service incompetence and cluelessness we were shown today when they're facing a similar situation.
