knowing the rules is only part of a good teach. information architecture is a whole field, and you want to structure your teach too: 'how to win -> what do on turn' but mindful of how much people can hold in their brains at once. teach some stuff later. be brief at first then detailed later
Legit when I'm going to play a game like, say, Terra Mystica or Brass Birmingham with friends I have to teach it to I will literally rehearse my teach for a few days because I want them to have a good experience, and I've had great games have shitty first impressions because of terrible teaches.
I used to think I didn’t like board games or a lot of games really, then I found out that I just don’t like having to learn how to play a game from people who are bad at explaining it. And because some don’t know, you can play a game very well AND be bad at explaining how to play the game.

Okay, the crowd going nuts like someone just scored a touchdown at the Super Bowl all *through* the KDH performance is a hell of a thing to see hear/see:

As usual with conspiracists, if their theories were true the evidence would be overwhelming.

Even if all you're doing is fandom stuff that "doesn't give JKR a penny," IT DOES THOUGH. It keeps her legacy alive. It keeps her work popular. Which likely makes someone somewhere give her a few pennies going forward.

Don’t let the desire to make “good” art stand in the way of making art.
Make bad art earnestly and joyfully. Pour your heart into poorly executed, derivative creations. And maybe it will end up “good” eventually or maybe it won’t, but either way you got to experience the magic of creating.

BLUESKY HOW-TO:

Bluesky does not use an algorithm to populate our timelines, so we need to create our own private "algorithms", using a set of Bluesky tools, many of which are created by 3rd party developers.

Here's the breakdown... 🧵 (1/7)
