Living on a small Island in British Columbia where it is quiet and the nights are dark. I need regular escapes to the Big Smoke. I do a lot of staring into the great black abyss of night. Probably anxious. Observer and seeker of happenstance.

My house in the woods this morning. It’s that little silver spec! Taken by our neighbours who live on the cliff top.

As we reach the end of the year I'm reflecting on some of the great artworks I viewed, including these: two of Rembrandt's late self-portraits, one in The Hague & one in London, both painted in last year of his life. Rembrandt turns a face to us that bears the marks of life's heavy weight

What a performance. What an actor.

Been thinking about how much noise there is right now.
Not just loud opinions — loud certainty.

Music taught me something early:
if you don’t leave space, nothing can breathe.

So tomorrow I’m listening.
Closely.

Wind up and power out for almost 24 hours. Spent most of the evening in candlelight and fell asleep on the sofa in the early blackness. Always have water on hand for cooking in these deep dark days of Island life when one can feel cut off and adrift on the planet.

The US has fought wars for bad reasons, but this would be the first time we fought a war for no reason.
Really looks like the United States is about to launch a regime change war against Venezuela with:

-No casus belli
-No authorization from Congress
-No allies or international support
-No plan for a post-Maduro Venezuela
-No preparation for any sort of stabilization or containment of the fallout
