3 journalists were either gassed, pepper sprayed, or hit with pepper balls today. One of them (a Minnesota Public Radio journalist) had to be hospitalized.

Also, St. Paul police managed to brutalize two state representatives during all this.

Just a sickening rampage

I want to point out a new resource page on Monarca website.

Small (or large!) businesses can post signs saying ICE/CBP must have a warrant to enter premises.

Also Know Your Rights signs for targeted people.

PDFs of signs and KYR cards. Plaster these puppies everywhere.

Ice has a legit warrant for the action on Maryland Avenue in St. Paul.

Leave the area. Document sppd action and fight like hell for them not to participate in future federal activities.

Reminder:

The use of tear gas as a method of warfare is prohibited under the 1993 Chemical Weapons Convention
Reminder of all the side effects of tear gas & it's just being deployed in residential neighborhoods for a gaggle or three of people who don't want their neighbors kidnapped.

Attaching potentially incriminating pictures to posts that came from a group that trains legal observers undermines the integrity of that work. I’ll be more careful in future, and hope others will as well.
The overall goal is to get as few people detained as possible, worth a reminder for us all.

I made the mistake of reposting information about an ICE raid that originally came from a group that organizes legal observer trainings. Those trainings explicitly say not to share images or video on social media and to avoid filming anyone but police.

RIP Alison Knowles - beautiful obituary by Irene Revell - discretely reminded me why and whose history we drew from when we were reading Gertrude Stein's 'The Making of Americans' as a group in 2019-2020. @irenerevell.bsky.social 🙏

Gorgeous colorizations of trans history images,

and a lot of incredible stories, including many lesser-known to many (A Zapatista colonel, a "transvestite pass" issued in 1928, the Scottish nobleman who the courts ruled should inherit his baronetcy in the 60s... for example...)

The forum I edit has a terrific, collaboratively-written article out! Did someone say Stud File?! We go to Princeton’s archive where a 1928 student fan letter from Samuel Steward to Joyce launched the authors into an exploration of an important, understudied queer writer, professor, &tattoo artist!

really so delightfully surprising to see them back
There’s a surprise 5 song EP called ‘Unhide’ by the fantastic Minneapolis duo Lookbook that was quietly dropped on Bandcamp in late Oct & on streaming services Friday.

It was recorded by Holly Hansen (Zoo Animal) over the last 3 years & mixed by Nat Harvie.
