Vesper!!! It's more weird SF than horror, but that was a treat we discovered there.

i have met a number of pigs, including pigs i later went on to eat (we have small farmers in our family) and quite frankly, getting to know pigs has made me feel even less bad about eating them

they would 100% eat us if given the chance

I saw a cabbage for $4.95 the other day and thought shit, I might be able to make money selling garden vegetables after all 😅

Today:

Pre-cut watermelon - $7.99

“Ha! No way! I’ll just buy an uncut melon and…”

Tiny little watermelon - $6.99

“Fuck it…”

Every time I leave the house, I figure it will cost me $100.

I try not to leave the house 😆

Katie and I went to a restaurant last week and were shocked the bill was under $40 for two entrees and drinks, like spotting a unicorn.

I had to start shopping almost exclusively at Aldi because their "bargain bin prices!" are the only prices that feel like NORMAL prices to me.

The one that always gets me is the $10-12 for a 12 pack of soda at Kroger. We're being robbed.

I am the usual grocery shopper in our household and I still have not adjusted my mental model to Today's Prices™ despite seeing them every week.

I feel like no one realizes how much even normal things cost now. The prices have gone up so drastically the last 5 years that it's easy to shoot off an assumption about money using old programming from a different economic reality.

While I agree gamified apps are a pox that need regulating, and GenZ is uniquely unqualified to navigate systems we've failed to regulate (being taught this is just what you do) $200 a month these days is only the cost of two people going out to a sit-down dinner twice a month in Today's Dollars.

I've been gunning to get more done on my personal projects before and after work, but woweeee when you notice the SAD you NOTICE it. I thought I was being lazy. Finally clicked why my brain is just TIRED.

One of the reasons Crime and Punishment is so long, yet ends so abruptly, is that it was serialized, Dostoyevsky had gambling debts and strung it along to get paid, and finally his editor told him to wrap it up, already

The last time I saw someone pushing the idea, they claimed it would stop books becoming so padded with filler to make them longer.

As an owner of an unabridged copy of the Count of Monte Cristo, I don't think they really understood how this actually works.

I really enjoyed Pagan Peak until about halfway through when the detectives started to just look incompetent, and the stalking was too perilous. That is obviously a valid and perfectly realistic choice, but I watch my murder shows for the escapism. 😆 I finished because I did like the characters.

Trying to watch Untamed, which is an American murder show, and it reminds me why I don't watch a lot of American murder shows.

I don't like Americans 😆
