This is why you vote. Even if you are a Democrat or Independent and live in a red state.

Republican state legislators are generally the ones who enact (or block) gerrymandering to help Republicans win the U.S. Congressional races. Where they hear no evil and see no evil no matter what Trump does.
Wow: a photo finish in tonight's South Carolina legislative election, where the GOP is defending a lightly red seat.

With all precincts reporting, the Republican nominee is up by just 21 votes.

(The AP has yet to call the race; it does not appear at this time that there are ballots left.)

Close your eyes.

Visualize midterm election night.

Picture Democrats flipping 30 House seats and 5 Senate seats.

Envision the ‘landslide’ headlines and the ensuing Republican despair.

Now work towards that goal.

Every day.

Organize. Donate. Register. Vote.

It is time for Congress to draw up a resolution to preemptively condemn Trump’s invasion of Greenland. Go on record stating impeachment and criminal conviction will follow. Play no games and give him no rope. Enough is enough.

One of the big takeaways from January 6th is that it wouldn't really take that many sufficiently dedicated people to put an end to this

1. Hundreds of corps that pledged to stop donating to members of Congress who voted to overturn the election on 1/6/21 have broken their promise over the last 5 years

But we've identified 10 promise keepers:

Farmers
Airbnb
Expedia
Nike
Clorox
Eversource Energy
Holland & Hart
Qurate
Whirlpool
Lyft
Five years later, these 10 corporations still aren’t funding election deniers

What I worry about is it seems like probably Stephen Miller's in charge of running things, and Trump is in charge of picking out marble for the bathroom and the ballroom and the arch and the Kennedy Center armrests.
This freak is completely unhinged. Just take a listen.

I’m really embarrassed for my country right now.
MILLER: The US is using its military to secure our interests unapologetically in our hemisphere. We're a superpower. It's absurd we'd allow a nation in our backyard to become a supplier of resources to our adversaries

TAPPER: Sovereign countries shouldn't be able to do what they want?

Casey did basic due diligence here, and it's depressing (and not even a little surprising) how many people wrote takes/stories on the post without doing that.
I reached out to the author of this viral Reddit post thinking there might be a story in it. He sent me an employee badge that Gemini flagged as being AI-generated and supporting documents that I suspect were also generated by AI. Be careful out there folks!

This is just a taste of why, despite Special Counsels Mueller, Durham, Hur all testifying before Congress in public hearings, the Republicans refused to allow Jack Smith’s testimony, given just two weeks ago to be given publicly. And why Jim Jordan released the transcript on New Year’s Eve.

If you are a foreign president who commits crimes overseas, America will come get you, arrest you, and lock you up.

But if you are a US president who commits crimes here in the United States, America will give you immunity from prosecution, reelect you, and bribe you with billions of dollars.

Don’t be fooled: you can’t both claim this was simply the execution of an arrest warrant AND say the U.S. is now "running" Venezuela & grabbing its oil resources.

Trump just admitted this was a clear regime-change play to enrich U.S. oil companies & his billionaire buddies.
Trump and his cronies can try to dress this up, but it is an illegal act of war to replace Maduro and grab Venezuela's oil for his billionaire buddies.

Marco Rubio is reportedly saying Maduro will stand trial in US courts.

Which means it’s now the US administration’s position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.

Spoken like a man who knows how to try a case, and all the things that can go wrong.

One thing about trials. You never know. Doesn’t matter how well you prep the witnesses, how thoroughly you organize the documents, how detailed your cross exam outline. There *will* be surprises.
'...You often find out at trial that people dispute things, that you never thought would be disputed during the investigation...'

A note of very cautious optimism!
“But it remains possible to envision a different ultimate outcome. In it, Miller’s mass deportations mostly fall short, the government mostly follows court rulings, civil society’s resistance holds, and the public backlash to Miller’s masked storm troopers only grows.” @gregsargent.bsky.social
Trump and Stephen Miller are actually failing in crucial ways. Deportations are lagging behind their goals, courts are mostly functioning, and their fascist, ethnonationalist cruelties have unleashed a countermobilization of unexpected scope and power.
