Let's please not pretend that this culture actually cares enough about young girls, women, abuse survivors, for that to be the deal breaker for a president to be in office. The first thing you learn as a survivor, hammered into you as long as you live, is no one really cares, it's just talk.

A second national anti-trans healthcare bill has passed the US House, a medicaid ban for trans youth. 4 Democrats crossed party lines to vote for it. Henry Cueller (TX), Vincente Gonzalez (TX), Don Davis (NC), and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (WA). It is not expected to get through the Senate filibuster.

“it’s reasonable to ask questions about trans girls in sports” was always intended to mainstream transphobia.

It’s absurd that people fell for it. Democrats are constantly letting oppressors set the terms of debate instead of just saying “no, fuck you.”

I have seen several headlines/takes that do not clearly distinguish that the Democratic bill extended ACA subsidies while the Republican bill pushed HSAs. This is a very important difference. Brava to @juliametraux.bsky.social for making it clear.
New from me at @motherjones.com: Senate Republicans blocked the Democratic plan to extend ACA tax credits while trying to pass (and failing too) health saving accounts plans, which @mirandayaver.bsky.social told me, are not useful for poor and middle-class folks. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

One of my children was involuntarily committed in 8th grade because they were suicidal. The facility closed a couple of years later due to abuse. This was the "good" facility in our state.
Care does not happen in psych wards. Stabilization of crisis can happen in psych wards, & it's purely being in a contained environment with doctors all around adjusting meds. The rest of what happens in psych wards is torture. We will need to see the end of the psych ward for mad liberation.

You can’t tell if someone is disabled just by looking at them.

There’s no such thing as the “genuinely disabled”.

You are not entitled to a person’s entire medical history just so you can decide whether to believe them or not.

People are not faking disability, most are trying to fake being well.
