His grandfather was head of the Iraqi central bank & his father made an absolute stack out of logistics contracts with the US interim government following the illegal war of 2003. Zahawi personally is 'worth' about £30 million, but yeah, heating stables is on us.
It's a racket: expenses, peerages, the whole rotten system, it's just some people are more shameless in their pursuit...
In 2013, Zahawi claimed around £6,000 in taxpayer's money to cover the electricity bills for the stables on his Warwickshire estate...
