Remember kids, in the year of our Lord 2026, if you see someone stealing food, NO YOU FUCKING DIDN’T
So someone was unsuccessful in trying to steal $300 worth of food from a business owned by the Sobey family (net worth $5.5 billion), and the cops thought it warranted a news release

Couple years ago, I bought a Samsung external SSD for backing up my photos and stuff. Got it from an Aus (online) store. It failed while I was overseas, and just got around to warranty claim recently. They refused to do Aus warrant and I had to ship to the USA at my expense. They found the fault...

Cool movie trivia I just found out: the same actor (De'Voreaux White) who played Argyle the limo driver in Die Hard also played the youngster who tried to steal a guitar off the wall in Ray's Music Exchange in The Blues Brothers (and got a warning shot fired at him by Ray Charles for his trouble)

A story I found about Haiti:

In 1999, a group of Haitians were tired of political disorder and dreamed of a better life in the United States. So they built a small, 23-foot boat by hand using pine trees, scrap wood, and used nails. They called the boat "Believe in God."

I honestly wasn't having the best morning.

I don’t even care right now that it appears he worked at Fox. I am hoping he was reporting outside of there. 😆

His joy made my day.

Don't forget to not grow up, just a little bit.

If only us Texans had a phrase for this sort of thing. Something about people cosplaying as badasses when they're really soft handed little snowflakes. Something that really FEELS like Texas, you know. Maybe a metaphor involving the wearing of a hat while lacking ownership of actual cattle. If only.

every social media company is bad but Meta really is uniquely evil
Instagram’s former head of safety and well-being Vaishnavi Jayakumar testified the company had a “17x” strike policy for accounts that engaged in the trafficking of humans for sex.

“You could incur 16 violations and upon the 17th violation, your account would be suspended"

I went to an Australian event last night, and despite all the conversations about Australian successes in technology, health etc, I couldn't stop thinking about the Emu War.
"There was war once in this land."

Blue-feather chuckled. He knew this memory song. Old Chipped-beak told it well.

"With who?" A young chick asked.

"The slow-meats. With their bang-sticks and iron beasts."

"What happened?"

The old emu cackled, his eyes glassy with memory.

"We won, of course"

an extraordinary person with an extraordinary legacy who nevertheless didn’t take herself too seriously

when Gary Larson published this cartoon, she was in Africa and her institute was horribly offended and drafted a complaint

the whole thing was defused when she returned - she found it funny
