So there’s a bluesky screenplay community thing going around about pitching your WIP with two movie posters. I’m not really doing that, but I do want to give a preview of something I’ve been working on & off for over a year now, and it’s *so* close to being done.
I hope I’m not overselling it. I should note the thing I value about it the most so far is that it *moves*. Everyone is more or less together, working as a team, making plans & executing them, right from the jump. It doesn’t dilly dally, it doesn’t play for time.
Okay, okay, I'll watch when the football season ends. I didn't like what I saw of S04.

You know, I get that people have STRANGER THINGS fatigue, that the kids look like they’re in their forties, the inflated running times, but I just started S05E04 and this season is *wildly* entertaining, especially when compared to the dour and un-fun S04.

I would rather have a world where we all trust each other and accept that a few people will take advantage of it than a world where folks have to perform disability constantly in order to get the help they need. Let kids have an extra 30 minutes on the test, jesus fucking christ

I still like the first season of Stranger Things, but you watch something like Anna to the Infinite Power (1983), something actually made in the 80s about a special girl trying to unravel the conspiracy she's part of, and it's limitations really become clear.
The problem with pastiche is you can always track down the things that inspired it and they will inevitably be better and more lively.

I’m reminded of the part in ELF where the kids’ book is missing the last two pages and the publisher is like Eh who’s going to notice
HBOMax has started showing a 'remastered' 4K Mad Men and they’ve messed things up so during Roger’s oyster vomit scene you can now see the crew men with the vomit hose on the right

Over the last month, I've been working on this essay about the use of AI art in board games, "Is This Really What We Want?" Though it is contextually specific, it is also a reflection of my wider thoughts on the use of AI art and writing in creative contexts.

AI generated imagery and text are a threat to what makes board games worthwhile. In this piece, Andrew explains Meeple Mountain’s policy.

It would change life entirely and offer freedom that is out of reach. Essential healthcare and housing could be obtained without worrying about having to rely on anyone or anything else. There's much to be said for being able to live in the way that you need to in order to be fulfilled as a person.
Honest question: If everyone got Universal Basic Income, no strings attached, what would YOU do with it?

Very excited that my first narrative film is not only premiering on @shudder.com tomorrow, but that it's also getting so many screenings!! Being a 30-minute film I didn't expect it to get any theatrical play, so the fact that all these venues programmed it to support features is a huge deal to me.🖤
Upcoming screenings for THE OCCUPANT OF THE ROOM, beginning tomorrow with its premiere on @shudder.com as part of annual series THE HAUNTED SEASON (in all their territories!)
Scan through the list to see if it is coming to a theatre near you!

This is literally the first time I’ve realized that Apple’s Preview icon has some little magnifying doohickey in front of the picture (I use this app every day)
some icons are very similar to their original designs, and some really aren't. i tried to keep them all having a similar colour palette to keep them quickly recognizable, but played with the silhouette because apple making everything a ~rounded square~ sucks ass actually
