Hello everybody! I’m a vaccine researcher at Harvard and lead some studies on respiratory virus epidemiology in Boston. Also a practicing infectious diseases doctor. But I’m really here to connect with my community and advocate for public health. As my old timey 60s activist dad tells me - organize!

I stand by Dr. Marrazzo. Both she and Kathy Neuzil have long been heroes of mine and incredible role models. This latest chapter just shows them off even more. ID doctors stick together! www.nytimes.com/2025/10/02/h...

And the CDC has officially decided to switch back from Mpox to Monkeypox. A reminder, the world still uses Mpox, this disease does not come from monkeys, Mpox is less stigmatizing and racist. Switching back is just meaningless, unnecessary, racist, and homophobic.

An excellent piece, but the claim that interrupting treatment "can rapidly lead to a dangerous form of HIV developing" is mistaken - drug resistance development is rare after complete interruption, and doesn't make the virus more pathogenic. Unchecked HIV replication is dangerous to people's health.

A baby’s immune system is ready for the hepatitis B vaccine as soon as they are born, and giving newborns the first dose vaccine within 24 hours of birth (with additional doses at 1-2 months and 6-18 months) remains the best protection against serious health problems like liver disease and cancer.

Stated at ACIP: COVID-19 vaccines are recommended for people 65 years and older and for individuals 6 months to 64 years old based on individual decision making.

Fact: Scientific evidence continues to strongly support broad COVID-19 vaccination.

I was thinking about that too. It’s really brave for them to put their names out there.

Listening to ACIP meeting which is a catastrophe, as predicted. I’d like emphasize in all this that the CDC subject matter experts and leads have been tremendous and continue to represent good science on our behalf. I am very grateful for their dedication, despite internal and external pressure.

Vaccines don't cause birth defects and that includes COVID vaccines.

And thanks to Carol Hayes of American College of Nurse Midwives for speaking up at the ACIP meeting

Stated at ACIP: MMRV isn’t acceptable for kids <4 to prevent measles, mumps, rubella & varicella.

❌ False. MMRV/MMR vaccines are safe & highly effective. Studies show only a very small increase in febrile seizure risk after the 1st dose.

As someone who has some terminated funding on the line - it’s hard to be super duper happy. Just overall confused and in limbo waiting for a SCOTUS shoe to drop! (For the record, others are far more impacted than me, I’m just reflecting on how this all feels at ground level)
