I had a man who saw me legally crossing the street, ran a red light anyway, almost clip me with his car, and the had the gall to aggressively tell me to “get out of the f*cking way” as he passed me by inches.

My first response was still not to shoot him in the face.

French writer, Albert Camus once said-"Be careful, when democracy is sick, fascism comes to its bedside, but not to inquire about its health."

And with a thin smile, it fluffs the pillow, smooths the sheets, and whispers, "Rest now—I’ll take it from here."

Unbelievable and outrageous.
Hi, this is Meg Barnette, Brad's wife.

While escorting a defendant out of immigration court at 26 Federal Plaza, Brad was taken by masked agents and detained by ICE.

This is still developing, and our team is monitoring the situation closely.

It’s amazing to find out at this late date how much the rule of law depended on people simply deciding, on a voluntary, daily basis, not to break the law.

As a fellow Cuban-American, I’ll never truly understand how our people—who fled a dictatorship—fell so hard for another wannabe dictator.
Today’s show was my last at CNN. My closing message: It’s never a good time to bow down to a tyrant… don’t give in to the lies. Don’t give in to fear. Hold on to the truth… and hope.

President Biden warned that an "oligarchy" of the ultrawealthy was emerging in America, sounding the alarm about unchecked power as he gave a farewell speech to the U.S. just days before he surrenders office to a man he disdains.
In Farewell Address, Biden Warns of an ‘Oligarchy’ Taking Shape in America
President Biden did not explicitly name President-elect Donald J. Trump, but his remarks went straight at the tension at the heart of the incoming White House.

Anyway here’s a cheerful piece about how the Sun will eventually destroy all life on Earth (but not by exploding, so, you know, there’s that)
Here’s how the Sun will end all life on Earth
Our home star won't go supernova, but the end of its life will be no less spectacular.

The impact of a good indy bookstore: I still remember where I bought all my favorite reads as a wee teen at Oxford Books back in ATL. Which rooms, what shelves, the lighting and feel of the whole store. I could find a copy of RL Stein blindfolded in that place. #BookSky

I think times may be too dark for true crime. Can anyone suggest any smart, funny, weird podcasts? Esp. long form with a story I can dive into? (For a true crime example, I loved Bear Brook. And if you haven’t listened to it, you should!).
