Cositas para guardar y no olvidar:
Parte 1
Voy a hacer aquí una lista de lecturas para combatir la indefensión aprendida en lo político que está cundiendo por todas partes como la Nada de la Historia interminable. Podéis mandarme vuestras propias sugerencias y las añadiré 😊

Thousands of people in the Twin Cities are mobilizing against ICE. Federal agents roam the city attacking people at random—but everywhere they go, they meet resistance.

What happens in the Twin Cities will determine what happens to us all.

Don't surrender to fascism.

The voices on these videos -- the competency of the dispatch, the studious professionalism of the local agents tracking and handling the violent criminals of DHS and ICE -- are such a perfect representation of the total collapse of state legitimacy.

While the pasty incels who work the federal agencies continue to churn out feeble, bloodless AI pastiches of Axis propaganda, here’s how a living breathing artist powerfully invokes design history. This is by illustrator Emily K in South Philly, a free poster-sized download on her website: →

kind of darkly funny that "gender studies" is the stereotypical "useless degree" because gender studies will help you understand a large and important chunk of the current psychosis in american life

A reminder that the US killed 80 people in Venezuela, and it would be nice if the US media cared enough to think that the life of a grandmother in Caracas whose building is destroyed by a US bomb matters as much as the life of a person in the US.

The end goal of Grok sexual harassment is to make women afraid to be visible. It’s a punishment for daring to exist in a way the perpetrators can’t control. There’s no one solution to this, because the problem isn’t just technological. It’s cultural. It’s misogyny. This is just one expression of it.

For everyone saying the solution is just to get off Twitter/X—that’s not going to cut it. This problem preceded Grok, it preceded Twitter, it preceded the internet itself. It will outlast the AI boom. It’s a problem of patriarchy, which is reinforced with violence.

Why show up to work at all then? At minimum, as the opposition party you say "This wouldn't happen if we were in power and if you give us power here's how we'll impose consequences on the president's lawbreaking." Have they outlined that in any real way?
A lot of people are mad at Schumer for saying this. But he's right. Democrats don't control a single branch of government and they can't pass anything. Only Republicans can rein in Trump because they control both chambers of Congress. Democrats have no cards to play here.
Schumer: "Republicans must -- if there was ever a time, they must step up to the plate. This is the time. And if they don't, they're gonna feel the heat from their constituents."

I don’t have a hot take on US imperial aggression in Venezuela because it’s not new - it’s standard US behaviour.

The US has toppled regimes in South America for decades and decimated Iraq on made-up charges for access to oil.

None of this is new or novel; it’s well-practiced US imperialism.

now, it might seem odd that political commentators who advocated for the uk to leave the eu because of their belief in “the nation state” to be supportive of america’s annexation of venezuela, but what you have to remember is that those people didn’t actually think that, they were lying for money

STOP. VALIDATING. THE NAZI SLOGAN.
Trump campaigned on an “America First” platform. Now he wants to "run" Venezuela?

60% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck. Health care is collapsing. Housing is unaffordable.

Trump should address these major crises at home and end his illegal military adventurism abroad.

Among the many reasons you don’t kidnap a foreign head of state at gunpoint even if you have the capability, is that it sparks consequences you can neither control nor anticipate.

Surely nobody is this stupid. *Yes*, we will say that: we will roar, screech, foam at the mouth and squeal, and if any notable says “Isn’t this a bit like the US kidnapping the leader of Venezuela” then our politicians and media outlets will unify to scream abuse at them, too. Yet again!

AI cannot take accountability. AI cannot be “sorry.”

You have no control over the outputs of AI if you did not make it yourself, train it on very specific data sets, and create extremely rigorous control methods. Even then the safeguards are limited.

The creators must be held accountable
