Great thanks to the judges and hearty congratulations to all the winners this year!
25 years ago, I wrote this evil little Xmas nugget. In 2011, I narrated it at Disney with the help of my colleague Jim, an audio designer. If you've not listened, I think you'll mightily enjoy it. ((Please excuse the grammar error early on!))

Jeeezus... Just finished reading @betsyaoki.bsky.social's novella "And to Their Shining Palaces Go" and it's brilliant. As an early virtual world designer, I especially appreciate it. I might be falling back in love with science fiction, folks.

I'm excited that in mid-December I'll have an updated "Witches of Winter" article. It takes the original piece I wrote for Tor.com and updates it with "witches" from my talk at @sundayassembly.bsky.social back in 11/2021. Move over, Santa and Krampus, for the first gift- and stitch-givers.

What the actual fuck is happening in Grand Forks, ND? A friend of mine is there visiting his son who's studying at the university. A guy with an AK-47 just chased them through downtown. They got away. JFC, people!

Yesterday my partner and I counted all the ads along Chicago's Brown Line for "Friend," a company selling an AI chatbot pendant, and tallied how many of those ads were defaced.

Still working on a longer piece on this, but here's the quick and dirty: we counted 104 "Friend" ads total, 42 defaced.

My dear friend Dr. Agustin Fuentes and his colleague Dr. Nathan Lents published this article on gender diversity, adding their voices to the chorus of scientists decrying the binary. www.prosocial.world/posts/beyond...?
Beyond the Binary: The Compounding Complexity of Biological Sex
Sex in nature is far more complex than a simple male–female divide, emerging instead as a diverse, overlapping continuum shaped by biology, development, and culture.

I'm not normally one to spin a conspiracy theory. I grew up with them and I hate them. However, I do worry we're not going to get the entire dossier on Jeffrey Epstein. Far from it. I'm sure asshole got assurances that everything about him had been redacted. The about-face makes most sense that way.

My smartphone #astrophotography presentation recording is up. The entire meeting is recorded, but mine starts at this link: youtu.be/7RJhz5C67hU?...

The presentations before mine are from 4th yr students, and after is a young member of my #RASC chapter who had an adventurous summer of science!

If you love @davidmcraney.bsky.social and his podcast, you'll really love my friend Dr. Joe Pierre's first book, FALSE. I became acquainted with Joe many years ago in Shinkendo when he was the Director of Psychiatry for the VA here in Los Angeles. This is his first book and it's outstanding.

Looks like there's evidence that OpenAI destroyed evidence -- the database of our pirated work -- as soon as litigation loomed. Sucks to be Sam, waaaaaay more than it sucks to be Anthropic.

My life changed forever that night as something tore the Veil and reached right through to our world. Bathe in the profound synchronicities and come out changed as I did. This is my first public telling following "Neil Gaiman: The Wolf in the Walls." A very blessed Samhain to you all.
