White people who have spent decades thinking “Born in the USA” is patriotic and “Every Breath You Take” is a great wedding song are suddenly very concerned about not being able to understand lyrics to some songs at the Super Bowl halftime show.

I think Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell fits the bill here.
I just got caught flat footed on an urgent request need: YA romantic contemporaries where the kids don't end up together, but mostly just bc the timing was wrong, or somehting not bc of infidelity (as in Why We Broke Up)

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

I care deeply about who Michigan will elect as Governor and send to the U.S. Senate next year, but I have decided against competing in either race.

I wrote more here about my decision and how I view the work required of us all in this moment:

This extraordinary assault on our federal government by the unelected, unappointed billionaire Elon Musk usurps the right of the Senate to advise and consent and is plainly unconstitutional.

Tesla's stock is ridiculously overvalued, and even a modest consumer boycott could tank the company, which accounts for the majority of Elon Musk's wealth.

This is an awesome thread for romance recommendations. I wholeheartedly agree on the ones that I have read so I’m checking out the ones I haven’t.
I had to take my dad to get some bloodwork done and then we went out to breakfast where I, a person who rarely drinks coffee these days, downed 2 and a half cups in short order so now I am AWAKE. Ask me anything! Wait, don’t do that. Instead, for every like, I’ll recommend a romance book.
