lol - that’s what I love about it! Proof at last that I’m not alone in hating Christmas and being disappointed by fellow humans
I’m watching Love, Actually and it’s a depressing indictment about how disappointing Christmas is and what utter shits people can be. Has Emma Thompson ever recovered?

I’m curious to see what others say about this because I feel like this is hard enough to pull off well that I can’t think of one I liked #bookvember

Honestly, nothing was left but the name.
I fell down a hole of "people who love wicked and picked up the book thinking it was going to be a fluffy fantasy romance story"
😂😂😂😂

I adored that book for a long time and was shocked when they made it into a family friendly musical.

It's dark and satirical and wonderful.

Holy crap! What is up with this Eagles Cowboys football game? I almost turned it off an hour ago.

I picked this up when one of my kids left it lying around the house. Loved the story of the girl who didn’t want to be a hero but became one anyway. #bookvember

True story: friend’s son habitually refused to return to kindergarten for a number of increasingly hilarious reasons that culminated in “kindergarten makes black hairs grow on my toes.”

Turned out his new socks were shedding on his feet.
operator: toddler 9-1-1, what's your emergency?

toddler: MY SOCKS!

operator: you can't find them or you don't like how they fit?

toddler: THEY'RE ITCHY!

operator: who made you wear them?

toddler: I DID!

operator: we'll get through this together--do you know how to scream?

Horror and true crime. For basically the same reasons I avoid them on the screen: I am easily startled/upset and I like that about myself. I want evil to upset me - #bookvember

There's a whole novel in the question, "Which one of these is best?"

Also not a big non-fiction reader, but finished this in October and it was eye-opening. It was recommended by someone when I commented that I felt overwhelmed, overworked, and overstressed. #bookvember

J.R.R. Tolkien
Terry Pratchett
Brandon Sanderson
Robin Hobb

I mean, I could add others (and on another day I might substitute them for one of these), but these are the authors I re-read consistently and envy the folks who are picking them up for the first time. #bookvember

Tried to read this book three times. Never finished it. I could not bring myself to care about the characters for some reason. To me, they all felt like cardboard cutouts of people.

I read this book in one sitting - absolutely devoured it. This is the only book I've ever read that caused an involuntary reaction that included swear words. #bookvember

I had surgery in 1995. When I was just waking up from anesthesia, I had a long, hilarious conversation with Bugs Bunny about my mother. I still feel like he was my friend and was there to make sure I recovered okay.
The hatred towards furries shows me someone's level of degeneracy because we ALL have at least one anthropomorphic two-legged animal character that we like. Bluey is literally a show about anthro two-legged dogs and sells millions of dollars

It was a crazy busy in the bookshop today. I took almost four times what I'd expect to take on a normal Weds. I guess the ramp-up to Christmas has started, which is good news. Independent bookshops make around a third of their yearly income over the seasonal period, so remember to shop local!

"Oh nooo, a vegetarian showed up at Thanksgiving! What do I do?" a few ideas off the top of my long-term veghead

1. Don't panic. They expect to see turkey and maybe a ham or whatever. It isn't going to freak them out or they wouldn't have come.

2. Do offer alcohol, if yours is a drinking house.
