It's Banned Books Week and I'm celebrating seeing my first story published in 4 years 🥳📚 I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it, because it felt really, really good to write.

Thanks @castofwonders.org for being a source of joy this week.

I actually think some villain origin stories are interesting enough but I can’t tell you how little I need to know how a man became a self obsessed fear mongering misogynist
I do not want Gaston backstory, I do not need Gaston backstory, I reject Gaston backstory

he is a fully formed oaf, consuming eggs by the dozen in one of the greatest villain songs ever written, and that is all we need of him

I connect very well with my therapist but today we hit a new high when I told her about the sense of satisfaction I'd gotten from recently modding Skyrim - and not only did she know what I was talking about, she and her partner are currently modding Skyrim themselves.

Here is why Skyrim is weird.

You have a thousand locations that are mostly similar. Here's an orc village, here's a Nord village, here's a elf camp, etc.

Oh! And here's costume party that takes place in a demented clown's brain and all the goats can talk and you can win a wand that's a dildo.

BCS is a great magazine to read, but also nobody else gives the feedback that Scott gives on stories, and his contracts are author friendly. In a world where that isn't the case, it's worth sending a couple of bucks their way. There's a subscription option if you don't do patreon.
BCS Patreon has fallen below the monthly amount we need to pay our authors a pro rate and our First Readers a worthy honorarium ($125/mo). Sometimes folks need to lower or pause their support; we understand. But less than 1% of BCS readership donates or supports. www.patreon.com/beneath_ceas... 1/3
