Folks tend to tune out when disabled people speak up

We warned that Covid would be a mass disabling event

We said failure to normalize masks would lead to mask bans

We pleaded for support & solidarity. We knew tossing the vulnerable to the wayside would pave the way for fascism

We were right.

If you care about social justice, wear a respirator.

If you want to fight fascism, wear a respirator.

If you care about your health, wear a respirator.

A well fitted respirator protects against Covid, measles & more.

It’s a simple & easy way to resist while practicing community care.

A 10 year old Australian student had a class project where he had to advocate on a policy that was significant to him and his family. He picked Clean Air in Schools. It is a very important issue for many families with school aged children that want to avoid repeated infections.

It’s been incredible seeing the #HandsOff protest photos & videos, but please remember that many disabled people are unable to physically protest. Chronic illness can prevent us from being boots on the ground

Engage with us. Fight for us. Make protests accessible. Wear a mask! Don’t leave us behind

Begging folks to stop referring to the pandemic in the past tense.

It’s still “during COVID”. The pandemic isn’t over just because you want it to be.

We have no sterilizing vaccine. No treatment or cure for Long Covid. People are still dying & becoming disabled every day because we refuse to adapt

My new record Moving Through Light is out today. It’s a kind of guitar collage music that I feel I’ve been working my way towards for a little while now. My sincere appreciation to everyone who picks this one up, thanks for listening!

On this day, we acknowledge Australians and so many others around the world impacted by and living with Long Covid.

Please think of others. #CovidIsNotOver

Today is Long COVID Awareness Day.

We recognise those living with LC and those caring for people with LC.

We must all provide support and join the call for research and a remedy for LC.

This Billboard was captured in Melbourne, Australia.

I’m sending love to all of the people still taking Covid precautions five years in. I know how exhausting it can be where the majority of the world has stopped caring about it, but you’re still doing it. You’re standing for community, love, and solidarity. Keep going. 💜

When everyone went “back to normal” & stopped caring about Covid, disabled people begged not to be left behind.

When mask bans started, we begged you to wear a mask in solidarity.

Resistance needs to include all marginalized groups. The Nazis started with disabled people for a reason.

Since the start of COVID, the number of people reporting a disability soared. Yet the majority of the world acts like COVID is over, and Long COVID doesn't exist.

It’s the five year anniversary of the pandemic. Five years that disabled people have been abandoned. Five years where many have excused our deaths as acceptable. Five years that we can’t even access safe healthcare. By you excluding disabled people, you’re aiding in fascism and eugenics.

If you’re not masking because you’re not worried about getting sick…take a beat & realize it’s not just about you

I am worried about getting sick. I’m desperately trying to maintain the tiny bit of function I have left

When you refuse to mask, you’re choosing to put me at risk

SBS in Australia have an episode on My Body, My Choice.

But has a "no mask policy" for their show.

Just an example of discrimination we face when it comes to masking.

And the reason we don't see representation of masking more widely.

Absolutely disappointing here from SBS. Masks protect the wearer and those around them.
*News

I was due to appear on SBS Insight tonight in a show about ‘My Body My Choice’, with a disability counterpoint against lawyers representing anti vaxxers.

At the last minute, I was uninvited due to their strict ‘no mask policy’. Said the executive producer.

I will be lodging a DDA complaint.

Do one thing today that makes the world a safer more accessible place.

Wear a respirator. Get an air filter. Share or donate to someone’s mutual aid. Find ways to make events more inclusive for disabled people.

Include us in protests, resistance efforts & community building. Don’t leave us behind.

People who don’t include disability liberation in their understanding of social justice will never make sense to me.

Like what do you MEAN you oppose sexism, racism, and classism, but the minute the lived reality of that oppression starts showing up physically, all your energy just evaporates?

When people keep asking, “What can I do?” when referring to improving the state of the world, you can wear a mask. It’s one of the easiest ways to protect minorities and create community care. It also shows noncompliance. You want to be a revolutionary? Wear a mask!

You want to be more involved in community care? Wear a mask. You want to be an ally for the most vulnerable like disabled people and people of color? Wear a mask. You talk about revolution but it means nothing if you’re not masking. By masking, you’re preventing death and disability.
