小茂田青樹『春の夜』。小茂田の絵はいつ見ても何かの本の挿絵にしか見えないのですが、それは彼が言葉と絵が一つになる境地を描いているということだと思います。画像の絵では梅の匂う春の夜に1匹の猫が鳥の翼らしきものをくわえて歩いていて、それを樹上のミミズクが大きな目で見つめています。まるで物語中の一場面を切り取ったかのような絵であり、猫とミミズクをめぐる1つの物語がおのずと紡ぎ出されていきます。

Just to clarify, the wolf fur was given to me by said wolf. He pushed himself against the bars and asked me to pluck out his winter coat for him because he was getting uncomfortable! I wouldn’t take fur from a wolf without asking, that’s just rude.
