Indeed! If Amazon sends out a damaged book you should try to let the author know but otherwise just treat it as a standard return/replacement stating that the physical product is damaged.
I've received some damaged books and had it refunded, but they have a habit of just re-sending damaged stock.

Remember: DO NOT LEAVE NEGATIVE REVIEWS OF A BOOK BECAUSE AMAZON DAMAGED IT!!!! This does NOTHING to affect Amazon, only the author who had nothing to do with the damage! Amazon has an extremely lenient return and replacement policy, PLEASE just use that instead.
