Hmmm, I wonder why the history of Volkswagen ad started in the late 40s even though they were founded in the 30s.

The Aurelian Cycle trilogy by Rosario Munda is epic in the best possible way. “Plato’s Republic with dragons”, yes please! It is begging to be a movie so someone with money go get those rights and make it happen. Highly recommend. #books #reading #teen #fantasy

Heard a #StLCards podcaster complain about StL winters being too cold this week.

You have to REALLY hate cold if you can’t handle the… checks forecast… SIXTY FOUR degree weather on December 23rd.

A child left this behind at the computer station yesterday, so of course my only solution was to recreate it frame-for-frame in canva. 90% sure I’m gonna run off like 50 copies and set them out as a “Local Author Spotlight.” They don’t teach you this in library school either. 📚

I’m not crying, you’re crying. So much feeling conveyed without a word of dialogue. This takes me back to those old AT&T long distance holiday ads. Give it three minutes of your life, it’s so worth it.

This may be the best Christmas ad produced in 2020. Just fantastic. What do you think?

I was thinking about how the MCU Loki is the most misunderstood villain of all time because he (or she, as in the case of Sylvie) ALWAYS chooses good, but the minute they do (according to Kid Loki) they get deleted. Even the mostly evil 616 Loki chose good in the end.

Loki is the greatest MCU hero.

Nearly every librarian and library worker I spoke with in the last twelve months was clear that the book banners never had the numbers or popular support on their side—and I’m relieved they were absolutely correct!
An immense amount of media attention was lavished on Moms for Liberty and their ilk, much of it casting the work of a small minority of far right book-banning commissars as an authentic popular groundswell. The liberal countermobilization got comparatively little attention. Time to reconsider that.
Don't overlook this: The big victory in Virginia isn't just about abortion. It also shows that the reactionary "parents rights" nonsense has utterly fizzled.

I talked to Dems on the ground about how the right is alienating voters. Fascinating responses.

In St. Louis, where I grew up, the trick or treat tradition is for the kids to have a joke to tell in order to receive candy.

I didn't realize this was regional til I was like 25, I left STL at 18.

I will argue any day of the week that a school without a school librarian is guilty of educational malpractice.

Public ed is supposed to provide a "thorough and efficient" education. Doesn't get more $ efficient than a school librarian!

…in search of answers to those questions only librarians are considered able to answer, such as ‘Is this the laundry?’ ‘How do you spell surreptitious?’ and, on a regular basis: ‘Do you have a book I remember reading once? It had a red cover and it turned out they were twins.'

The library feels sentimental.
Never forget that the first thing that happened to you on this earth is that you were held.
Never forget you deserve support.
