I think one thing that continues to be missed in the Heated Rivalry discourse is that actually what people want are really good romance shows!!! People yearn for YEARNING. Even people who say they 'don't like romance' will inevitably name a classic romcom as a fave.

important also to note that all the strikers are in prison on remand - they have not yet been to court, but have been held by the state for months. lammy hadn't even responded to correspondence from MPs about the hunger strike; there is no plausible deniability for uk govt here.
It’s hard to exaggerate how bad the situation is in the UK. There are eight people on hunger strike and David Lammy recently claimed he wasn’t even aware of it. That hunger strikers may actually die is barely even news.

It’s a brave choice for a game to have problems emerge over time (rather than clearly present immediately) in a way the protagonist can’t control, to the point that they *can’t* be the hero. They react to their circumstances as best they can, but it’s still not enough.
