Quick question then, are you just stupid or do you write this before you'd bothered to read the outcome

I made a complaint about this. It won't make any difference by itself but bombarding the BBC with complaints and hassling their journos on socials might get us somewhere. www.bbc.co.uk/contact/comp...

'Biological' male or female used for trans+ people is misgendering and not neutral, it's a slur. It doesn't matter if a judge said it.

Media folk using it are doing a similar thing to interviewing racists and not just repeating their slurs in quotes but adopting them themselves.

It needs to stop

Sharron Davies isn't a women's rights activist and it's both disgusting and craven to describe her as such. She has championed no rights for women, just the removal of the rights of trans people.

absolutely vile to describe transphobic bullies as "women's rights activists". There is no conflict between trans rights and women's rights. It's simply a lie.
Lib Dems announce 5 peers including ex-MP Sarah Teather, Tories announce 3 including Olympic swimmer/ women's rights activist Sharon Davies, historian Simon Heffer and former cabinet minister John Redwood. Reform UK don't get any.

some interesting choices in this United lineup. Going to be a tough test. Hopefully Park and Toone can make an impact off the bench?

Labour slashed welfare with no “sensible safeguarding”. Labour attacked trans people with no “sensible safeguarding”. Labour attacked migrants with no “sensible safeguarding”.

Why don’t we be sensible, safeguard our future and vote these Labour liars out.
Never vote Labour again

Can we think of *single* example of our rights & freedoms increasing under this Labour government? Like, one [1] instance of our liberties expanding rather than contracting?

Never surprised by anything our police force does these days

But it's much, much worse than this, isn't it. Starmer & co aren't just shuffling their feet awkwardly. They're actively pursuing their own evisceration of liberal democracy with gusto & while yes, some of this is to appease the Fash King in Washington, much of it is obv bc they *like* it

The only person to come out of the SPeggie/NHS tribunal vindicated and with a completely untarnished reputation is Dr Beth Upton.

Not SPeggie,
Not the NHS management,
Not Four Women Scotland,
Not the media,

Just Dr Upton.

Incredible how many people hold some kind of festering grudge against Jeremy Corbyn for "enabling Brexit" and yet David Cameron - the literal PM who called the referendum - is still living and breathing and walking around

He didn't enable Brexit. Despite what the media claimed he spoke to more people than others did in favour of remain. But he does believe in democracy which I agree is foolhardy when direct democracy requires an informed and educated public.
Something the Guardian (pls don't share them) do not help.
The thing I still can't forgive Corbyn for is the generational harm he caused by enabling Brexit. When Starmer is gone, hopefully soon, I will feel the same way about the profound harm he has caused by making it palatable for the Far Right to ditch human rights norms. It will be his shameful legacy.

No matter how much good work he does for our community, please remember he's at heart a rich white liberal who has very predictable rich white liberal views.

Doesn't mean he can't do great things, but ultimately he isn't a fellow traveller if you believe in meaningfully transformative change

An awful lot of people would like to believe that Brexit was Somebody Else's Fault.

The mechanisms of media bullshit that you rail against when they're used against trans people are the same ones you used when trying to paint the left as the anti-EU problem. It's just horseshit.

Pronouns aren't "contested".

A person's pronouns belong to them, are their own choice, and refusing to use them is IMHO a form of harassment.
(the tribunal says they'll refer to the trans woman solely by name because using the trans woman's she/her pronouns would constitute pro-trans bias unfairly disfavoring the cis woman's preferred pronouns for the trans woman)

mags' climate change tweet but it ends with "until you're the one being deported"
The entirety of British politics now just consists of all parties from across the political spectrum making increasingly deranged statements about how and why they are going to deport people
The Conservative party’s policy also includes stripping people of their British citizenship when they are found guilty of a crime ⬇️
