i think a lot of media (including games eg recent silent hill f) particularly now is exploring the culturally and socially expected role of women in the past and how it clashes with reality and experiences of misogyny, so it probably is a bit tiring for most people but i really love domestic horror

its also very easy to follow despite often changing viewpoints with characters, when ive found some writers tend to switch characters and make you guess what happened in between, creating huge guessing gaps

i got these on my london trip and im about 60% through medlock. personally loving it bc its like shirley jackson but an agonising descent into half imagined, childish misconstrued madness, very turn of the screw. i saw reviews on goodreads saying its over the top gothic, but i love stories like this
