I’m piling up words in first drafts. It seems to be what I do every November now. I am within a couple thousand words of a first draft for my current WIP. I’ll have to start work on the next one to get my 50k in November!

Just hit 200 followers on BlueSky. I’ve found it much harder to gain traction here than other platforms, even though I like BlueSky best. Tips welcome!

Finding a beloved author feels like discovering a secret world. I cherish each title, savoring them slowly, letting the magic linger. It’s like unwrapping gifts, one beautiful layer at a time. #booksky #romancebooks

1. Do I have to Americanize my manuscript? I think colour just looks better.
2. If I've written a series of books, so I query one at a time, or just throw them all out there?

Small submission tip! IMO, it is usually better to just say "Hi/Dear/Hello [name of agent/editor]" than to accidentally misgender someone! It is not disrespectful to call someone by their name, and you are allowed to do it. #querytip #pubtip #publishing

Well said.
I have a working theory that Ali Hazelwood's books are on a range, much like colors. One isn't better than the other, yet everyone has their favorite and least favorite color (Ali book).

There are also people who aren't fans of lots of color (Ali)

And no one is wrong for those opinions.

You ever heard of Julie Dash? Some of you undoubtedly have, but quite a few I'd imagine not.

Julie Dash is the first Black woman (ever) to have a full-length film with a theatrical release in the United States.

In 1991.

There's a book as well.

Julie Dash turns 73 years old today

I’ve said this before, a lot, but when you’re an author and your book doesn’t sell your feelings can default to the premise, “Everyone in the world was offered my book and they all personally rejected it.” The truth is most people don’t know it exists. Awareness is the problem, not you or your book.

In Defense of the Third-Act Breakup: I love this #romance trope, so my latest Substack is an homage to the bittersweet break that sets up the grand reunion.

If you're one of the people who prefers #romancebooks without a third-act breakup, I'd love to hear why.

Girlhood. Trauma. Made for an excellent discussion.
