This lucky #lamb was born at #vegan Farm Sanctuary & will never know torture & killing.

Animals aren't things. They're someone. Sheep have been studied & contrary to popular belief, they've complex emotions & decision-making intelligence.

More than 4,000 elephants treated – and this chap is one of them. Time was running out until infection set in, the SWT/KWS Southern Vet Unit. Operation complete, the bull woke up and rejoined his friends, who were waiting nearby. Full recovery expected.

Australia’s koala paradox: why is the beloved marsupial endangered in parts but overabundant in others?
There are so many koalas in some places that food is the issue – while elsewhere populations are threatened by habitat loss. And there are no easy fixes

We feared Mwashoti would never walk again after a devastating snare injury. Now he plays referee, greets new arrivals, clears buffaloes for his Keepers, and waits each morning for Murera. The gentlest of giants.

The Keepers call Korbessa "our little frog" – she loves sitting with her legs splayed out.

Rescued from a well near Meru in 2023, she arrived tiny but full of character and became Kaluku's undisputed mini-matriarch.

Oftentimes, the macaws, parrots, and parakeets at the sanctuary make a huge ruckus. This week’s Sunday Smile gives us a quick look at some blue and gold macaws in the trees at the back of the African habitat. If they weren’t so interested in eating the pequi fruit in the trees,

Thanks to you, orphaned elephants always have a home.

For the youngest, that means a Keeper beside them through the night – sleeping above them, waking for feeds, offering comfort when they need it most.

What happens when orphaned elephants grow up? Do they remember their human family?

We've reintegrated nearly 200 orphans – and they never truly forget their Keepers. Now? They protect them in return.

November 2025: An elephant in the Mara, frantically scratching against trees – an arrowhead embedded in his backside. Our SWT/KWS Mara Vet Unit darted him, cleaned the wound, administered antibiotics.

He wasn't the only patient that day. Olubi the lion was next.

Meet Arthi – our resident alarm clock.

When Keepers were five minutes late opening the gates, this young bull trumpeted until someone got the message. He's also tried sneaking early to the mud bath for milk – and sulked under a tree when it didn't work.

Can you see it? A snare, cinched tight around a tiny calf's trunk.

Snares don't discriminate. This calf was successfully treated – but in one month alone, our teams confiscated 1,544 snares.

Through boreholes, water bowsers, and dams, we provide elephants, rhinos, giraffes, and countless other creatures access to drinking water. Without this, animals would be forced onto community land – creating human-wildlife conflict. Your support ensures wildlife can stay within safe borders.
