People need to be crystal clear about something: The requirement that the government ANSWER to a court on the legal basis for detaining someone is literally the core liberty right (habeas corpus). If the government says they don’t have to do that bc “national security,” YOU can be disappeared.

Good lord they really seem to have a hard time understanding why people would stop being friends with them for supporting Nazi shit.

Did they think they could just cheer on the hatred and persecution and people would simply *ignore* their ignorant & proud lack of humanity?

Creditworthiness is declining as Americans are saddled with excess debt. The economy is softening, and consumer demand will eventually collapse. Recession warnings are flashing everywhere.

MAGA is pure hypocrisy. They will chant any lie as long as it brings them power. They know exactly what they are doing, and they don't care.
Trump and musk plan to fire 83,000 from the department of veterans affairs. Remember all those times the GOP said we couldn’t care for refugees because we needed to take care of our veterans first? www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

I envision a world where the EU supplants NATO as the organization responsible for checking Russian imperial aggression. The EU will move towards enforcing standards of liberty in order to push out nations that fall under Russian authoritarian tendencies, like Hungary.
In Brussels, Hegseth caves on Ukrainian sovereignty over its pre-invasion borders and NATO membership. It was always Russia, Russia, Russia. The torch is now passed to Europe to fight Russian aggression.

Mitch is trying to save his “legacy” as being the person who ended US freedom and democracy for all time. Inevitably leading to the end of all free people globally. Makes Mussolini look angelic.
This is your reminder that "Moscow" Mitch McConnell could have avoided a second Trump presidency by supporting Impeachment for Jan 6, but he decided to play partisan politics instead. He doesn't get any points for doing the right thing now, if anything it makes him more despicable.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who killed so many children in Samoa they ran out of child-sized coffins, has been confirmed to lead Health and Human Services.

The vote was 52-48. All Dems and Mitch McConnell, whose fault this is, voted no. All other Republicans voted yes. The blood will be on their hands.

With both RFK Jr and Gabbard confirmed, two people who rose to prominence spreading conspiracy theories about public health and national intelligence will now run the U.S. government agencies in charge of those areas. For someone studying these conspiracy theories for a decade... this is nauseating.

The endless frustration of seeing how little benefit good has brought makes evil attractive. With every passing breath, and every heartbeat, the urge to fully commit to the soul's Heel Turn grows. At least all the self flagellation will end.

I hope.

Disappointments pile like dead, fallen leaves.
Each a broken promise of Spring,
And a heavy threat of Winter,
In a heart made for Summer
Optimism wanes
In the face of dessicated hopes
And a broken vow of Peace
To a world full of liars
Who take kindness for weakness.

The simple fact is, most people don't have the expertise or knowledge necessary to even understand the spending of an agency with its fingers in as many pies as USAID. Even experts have a hard time understanding and tracking the benefits derived from these investments. That doesn't make them bad.
Musk's propaganda focusing on individual items in US AID's budget is part of the authoritarian assault on the concept of "a public good." By turning every penny the US gov't spends into a topic of public deliberation (and potential ridicule), they are trying to turn people against democracy itself.
