On top of everything else, Deltarune understands the RPG genre
Deltarune is many things, but it is also in conversation with RPGs and their design. I believe this is worth unpacking.

Deltarune is beloved by many, for a variety of reasons. But as much as an immensely popular and talked about game can be undiscussed, I think its RPG systems aren't given enough credit, relatively speaking.

I wasn't planning to replay dragon quest vii because truly the game is a commitment even on 3DS, but reimagined has cut the length of the game in half you say...

Earlier this year I finished Metaphor: ReFantazio, a game with a bunch of really interesting ideas.

I've been reading a fantasy book trilogy recently (that I'll leave nameless to avoid drama), on book 3
There are parts of it that I genuinely do enjoy, which is why I haven't fallen off entirely. But having a female protagonist does not mean you can slack on the rest of the women in the story!

We don't have "the videogame award for the best programming" for a pretty good practical reason (critics are not reading the code for the games they play), but I would like to nominate Rhythm Doctor for the 2025 version of this hypothetical award anyway, because like. It can't have been *easy*

My initial reaction to the live action Look Back adaptation was "but why", as someone who strongly feels that the story presented being either a manga (it's a story about making manga) or an anime (it's a story subtextually about kyoto animation) is important.
That said, will I see it, yeah sure

The most recent Gnosia episode is kind of fascinating in terms of all the moves it makes (lots of anime original decisions are coming to the forefront in an interesting way, both in terms of plot and gender), but my big takeaway is that the Japanese VA of Otome is perfect casting
