“Board of Peace”? More like “Board of Continued Oppression and Exploitation”

Given Jared Kushner’s financial dealings with Israel and MBS, the conflict of interest is staggering.

It is impossible to properly calculate the depth and breadth of the courage and sacrifice of those prepared to confront white supremacy and assert their right to full citizenship.

We - and by that I mean ALL Americans - owe them a great debt. Rest in Peace & Power Claudette Colvin.
"I knew then and I know now, when it comes to justice, there is no easy way to get it. You can't sugarcoat it. You have to take a stand and say, 'This is not right.' And I did."

Rest in power, Ms. Claudette Colvin.

The fight for equality continues.

When will the press stop identifying these thugs as “federal agents”? Who are they—ICE? Border Patrol? Their insignia specifies only “police” and “SNA.”
They are functionally Trump’s Brown Shirts.

So it increasingly appears Trump just made up the idea that he was in charge of Venezuela. Made it up. Confabulated it. Confirming he is not aware of what is happening around him, and should no longer be in this job. Can't walk this one back peeps.
Yeah, people are fixating on a Cabinet Secretary being given a sovereign country to run because the president waged war without congressional approval and kidnapped the old leader. Weird that they’d get hung up on that.
WELKER: Mr. Secretary, are you running Venezuela right now?

MARCO RUBIO: Yeah. People are fixating on that. Here's the bottom line -- we expect to see changes in Venezuela

Consider the underlying assumptions—

What is the value of acquiring vast reserves of oil? Dino-fuel. I understand the value to oil companies of getting Trump to jettison environmental regulations. But what will this sea of oil be worth when the AMOC stops?

With Republicans active in 59 separate voting cases and the DOJ litigating another 30, the picture becomes clear: voter suppression is now a defining feature of the MAGA takeover. It will be the leading GOP strategy in 2026, and it’s our job to prevent it, Marc Elias writes.

“The US secretary of state, Marco Rubio, explicitly threatened on Saturday that Cuba was next. ‘Cuba is a disaster, run by incompetent and senile men,’ he said. ‘If I were them, I would be a little worried.’”
Was he speaking of Cuba? Or the US?

The whole purpose is to build a case justifying Emergency War Powers Act. This plus sending troops into more cities (“to support & defend ICE/BP agents”) is all advance action to undermine or disrupt the MidTerm Elections. (More probably Vought than Miller)
I also have been assuming that the primary purpose of this conflict is domestic
I keep saying this but no one is connecting the dots. The war is to satisfy legal preconditions for mass removal *domestically* of Latinos (i.e., suddenly a lot of people are going to be “Venezuelan” for purposes of removal). This is 100% Stephen Miller…oil claim is to make grandpa go along

I’m surprised. Very.
All of us sometimes think stupid things, but we don't say them out loud (let alone publish them in the NY Times).
“The mind-set shift needed here is to acknowledge that while climate change is real and harmful, the utility of fossil fuels is not something the oil and gas industry tricked the public into,” Matthew Yglesias writes.
