You won't be any better at fighting what's coming if you burn yourself out and spend all your time feeling bleak and hopeless, and the people telling you that it's all despair now probably don't have anyone's best interest at heart.

Having survived the Lahaina fire storm and now watching the LA fire storm, I am convinced we need to retire the "once in a lifetime" characterization. We are living in the time of climate change & insufficient infrastructure investment. This will happen increasingly & we need to meet that reality.

sometimes im in a position to say something positive in dark times, but right now i just want to say its okay to feel devastation too. thats what this is. it is horrible and we do not need to push through it with smiles. sometimes you can push through it with a heavy heart. both ways prove love

Gotta read all the way to the bottom to get to the comparison that people will truly understand: "Medical organizations supporting mifepristone’s availability say the drug’s safety — given the rate of deaths — compares to “ibuprofen, which more than 30 million Americans take in any given day.”

Books designed to be read only by human eyes are different from books designed to be read by machines, which is why Google will tell you that the phrase “shake my booty” can be found in an 1863 English translation of Don Quixote.

Just a reminder that when abortion rights have been on the ballot they have not lost anywhere. Not in Michigan. Not in Kansas, Kentucky or Montana. Now, not in Ohio.

What (modern English) translation/edition of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight are people using with their undergrads these days?

We used the Broadview facing page translation by Winny when I was in undergrad and the Tolkien translation in high school, but I know there are other options!
