Lots of people have pointed out some faulty math here but that said: we went from a DINK car-free family to needing a car and daycare for a newborn. In today's prices, that alone added $30,000 annually for three years to our household budget that simply wasn't there before.
TL;DR: the *actual* poverty line in the US for a family of four with two young children is about $140,000, and there isn't much improvement in quality of life between $40K and $100K.

It'll be hilarious seeing Hollywood try to trend chase this because if you go the "contemporary Broadway blockbuster" route nearly all have been box office bombs (Dear Evan Hanson, Rent, Producers), and if you go the "Oz sequels" route you have to push Pip/Ozma past risk-averse studio heads

One thing that is tough about rapid response/patrols, besides constantly being threatened by armed secret police, is that for the most part they see the defeats. There are exceptions, but you’ll never know how many people were saved by slowing feds down, whistles, community alerts, etc.
