Were I the head of an organization linked in several different ways to the most horrifying sexual abuse story in recent memory my sole aim would be to avoid a headline that includes the idea that I am "secretly investigating" the people who help expose it.

US Coast Guard officially stops classifying swastikas as hate symbols...

The new policy went into effect Monday, according to written correspondence that the Coast Guard provided to Congress this week, a copy of which was reviewed by The Washington Post.

The Republican propaganda that Trump “inherited” a bad economy from Biden and is making it better is the exact opposite of true. The numbers don’t lie and people know what they are experiencing.

Some of the most useful insights into what’s happening to America are coming from political analysts outside the United States. Here’s a particularly lucid essay that I think you should read.

the funnest read on susie wiles today is speculating on all the lies she's tellin'. it's trash to put in your head, & that's okay if you go touch grass at some point.

morning thought:

it's real simple, my countrywomen & men:

we've all got to smarten up, be a lot more compassionate with one another (& "the stranger" in our midst) in order to save our democracy.

& then we'll bring the bad actors working for trump's criminal mob to justice — big shots & thugs.

Every single reporter there needs to hold the line on this too.

Don't throw him a lifeline with another question if he dodges. Have each other's backs and demand he answer the question.
Just to get ahead of this: Print the post out and bring it to the next Mike Johnson presser. You already know what his move will be. There’s no excuse to not be prepared for it.

Trump's Rob Reiner is not about a failure of empathy or good taste. Trump bragged that Reiner was murdered because he criticized Trump! That's a seismic shift in political rhetoric. He wants people to believe that MAGA will murder his critics. He wants MAGA to believe it.

what is happening at Brown is horrific. And the Supreme Court conservatives helped cause it by making up a new second amendment in 2008
You know what shouldn’t be controversial?

That there is no — zero — right to own a gun. Zero. Antonin Scalia made that up when he made up an entirely new second amendment in 2008.

No right to a gun. Scalia made it up. Say that, @delauro.house.gov
Safe storage isn’t controversial; it’s responsible. If you keep a firearm at home, kids should not be able to access it.

No parent should have to bury a child because of an unlocked gun. Ethan’s Law is the standard our children deserve.

so, this right here? this is one of the absolutely most lawless, brazenly unconstitutional impeachable offenses ever committed by any president other than trump in the history of our country.

like, this is an open and shut case. and it's a case which targeted *republicans.*
This should be the biggest story in the country right now. The sitting US President was extorting state lawmakers from his own party by threatening to withhold public money if they didn’t gerrymander for him.

I don’t know how else to say it…

thread on jeffries et impeaching the old nazi clown & his minions.
The final paragraph of this statement is FASCINATING.

Dem leadership is clearly trying to imply, in pretty strong terms, that they'll launch an aggressive, vigorous, public impeachment effort if they take back control of the House. But without actually, you know, saying that.

Drip. Drip. Drip.
Significant statement from Jeffries and House Democratic leaders saying they will vote “present” on the motion to table Al Green’s resolution to impeach President Trump. They say they’re “laser-focused on fighting to lower the high cost of living” plus on health care and corruption.
