My mum, having learnt of #DuvetKnowItsChristmas last year, has rocked out the 80s bed linen in an attempt to get featured, but honestly it's far too comfortable to complain

Right then, no one asked for it (everyone seems quite happy with last year's!) but here we are anyway, your #DuvetKnowItsChristmas 2025 bingo card! Some returning classics, some we missed last year and some new ones. Enjoy team, donation link below once Rhodri posts it!

An independent taskforce *just* did a huge review of ADHD in England, and the conclusion was that it's "under-recognised, under-diagnosed and under-treated."

Here is a list of reasons why some of my hearings and trials this year have been delayed and kicked off into the long grass, stuck in our record court backlog. Serious allegations which will now be tried *years* after the event. 🧵👇

I cannot understand what these people think the purpose of human life is?

It is *not* "pursue joy, deal justly, love well, try to understand as much and see as much of this beautiful world and of the deepness, richness and variety of human culture and experience as you can before you die"?
How is this repeatedly made into a policy issue - by *all* parties - when the blunt fact of the matter is that grown adults who are obliged to pay for their own education, and relentlessly pursued to repay their loans, should be able to study whatever the fuck they want.

I'm on a very busy train where a lot of us are standing (I have reserved seats but can't get to them) and the number of people sitting in aisle seats with a vacant window seat and refusing to move is ridiculous

EUROPEAN: Ah! [American third-rate politican]! He texted his dick to people. I know this basically against my will.

AMERICAN: I don't know what's going on over there. You're ruled by the Marquis of Racism or something?
There is a difference between the responsible world citizen thing of knowing the major political stuff of important allies, which we'd do but cannot ever expect Americans to do in return, and the basically involuntary way knowledge of z-tier American political actors is forced on us.

Imagine this: Sean Bean plays king in a cheap medieval themed park, he hates it, kids kick his chins, teenagers are annoying... one day he has enough, violently takes over the park and starts ruling it like a real medieval king as the police surrounds the place.
I'd watch that!

(Dogs Are Good, Actually would rock as a Worldcon theme. Put dog astronauts and corgi wizards everywhere. Invite some dog trainers to give talks on how you train a corpse dog or a rescue dog. Do panels on dogs in SFF. Build a small memorial for Laika. You know I’m right.)

Nobody in Europe "despises" AC. There is simply a large community of people who have not psychologically adapted to the knowledge that we might have to start installing it. It's not that dramatic. Stop being so dramatic.

There's a lot of people angry about this article, but so far as I can tell it's an attempt to square the circle of 'there are homes in the UK that are starting to need AC' with 'I feel guilty about using AC because I don't *really* need it,' which is a big convo in the UK atm

I'm in Caen and to celebrate 1000 years of something to do with the city they have made a floating bridge out of packing crates, cardboard and gaffa tape on some floats and are attempting to get it into position to actually cross the canal using kayaks to tow it So far only one person has gone in

Why yes, I am replying to every post about UK lack of air-conditioning I can find. It's too hot, I have no outside space and my TV screen is generating too much heat to use it. I know, I should get offline and read a book

Cool, we just need to rapidly adapt all of central and northern Europe's architecture and infrastructure for a hot-humid climate although it was was built over centuries for a moderate-to-cold humid climate.

Totally viable "coping mechanism" right there …
