that is what those tantrums about non/3rd-party votes and harris hypotheticals reveal

they aren't against political crimes and bigotry.
they're against being the TARGET.

and some of 'em believe that because they were/are targets, they have the moral/ancestral "right" to choose the next targets.

It’s sort of infuriating to watch liberals all of the sudden be able to identify war crimes because Trump is doing them

I think Dr. James Cone would be a HUGE fan of Ryan Coogler's work. Cone talked a LOT about the importance of Black people being able to blessed by loss - to decenter the "winners" from history/the gospel via his 'cross and the lynching tree' metaphor.

I used to rant about "lying ass headlines" years ago on twitter...just trying to note how far the window has shifted.

It matters because this is how incoming students think communal/public discourse works....that you can just exaggerate, decontextualize, and make up shit based on feelings.

"Never spread the lie in the headline" should be a hard rule of 21st century journalism.

Research shows that repeating lies helps to spread them, and people read headlines more than they read stories.
News media has to do better with headlines that present false and unverified public health claims.

Bullshit headlines annoy the piss out of me. "Scientists are debating" an alien spaceship claim — translates to "One anesthesiologist claims it; all scientists in relevant fields ignore him."
'No easy explanation': Scientists are debating a 70-year-old UFO mystery as new images come to light
Two new peer-reviewed papers claim thousands of unexplained light flashes in vintage Palomar telescope images show statistical ties to nuclear tests and UFO reports. Not everyone agrees with the paper...

Actual study: Anthropic paid MIT to use a "labor simulation tool" that said 11.7% of TASKS could be done by AI
MIT study finds AI can already replace 11.7% of U.S. workforce
Artificial intelligence can already replace 11.7% of the U.S. labor market, across finance, health care and professional services, according to MIT's study.

It's weird to not only have lived through an information revolution but also now living through its undoing, all within less than a generation.
Google at its peak was basically the best information retrieval system in human history and they and every competitor decided going from there to “you didn’t want answers you wanted half-assed auto-complete 80%-wrong hallucinations” in a few years was the right idea

Twitter pays people based on engagement (views, retweets, comments, etc). It appears that many MAGA accounts are based abroad and they use AI technology to generate low-effort rage bait.

My guess is that this will get worse as AI tech improves. For instance, fake videos of minorities doing crime.

"By any consistent standard, if Summers is unfit to work for each of these institutions [from which he resigned], he is equally unfit to teach at our school. Harvard should not be the only institution in America where Summers remains above reproach."

Summers should choose the most straightforward path and resign. Should he refuse to, though, the University must cut ties with its former president to the greatest extent possible.
