When I'm not shooting projects for clients, there are few things I enjoy more than catching Mother Nature interacting with #Chicago. Lightning, snow, waves, ice, fog, shelf clouds — you name it, Chicago almost has all the weather // #WX #ILwx
The Chicgago skyline at the bottom of the frame is dwarfed by a massive, roiling shelf cloud A massive lightning bolt drops into the heart of Chicago. The city sits in darkness in the foreground, while rain in the background obscuring the city in the distance Massive waves crash along Chicago's lakefront. The Chicago skyline is in the distance on an overcast day as seen from 31st St. Beach. This photo was taken on September 27th when a storm system from hurricane Helen remnants made its way northwards Snow flakes, illuminated by a camera's flash appear s orbs floating across the scene. Behind them id the view of the Chicago River lined with bridges that reach to Wacker Drive. The warm tones were a creative choice to contrast other wintry images I shot that evening.

EXCLUSIVE — DHS Acting General Counsel sent out a memo Wednesday to all Federal Protective Service staff (the sub-agency that guards federal buildings) letting officers know they could take any action necessary "in the vicinity" federal property to protect themselves.

The Handbasket reports:
DHS top lawyer says 'no legal barrier' to actions officers can take to defend federal property
In a memo obtained exclusively by The Handbasket, Federal Protective Service (FPS) officers were given free rein.

I'm at the scene where ICE abducted multiple people from Lincoln and Foster this morning.

A WGN producer was among the people taken, allegedly because she was among a group of bystanders who tried to intervene. ICE agents hit this car while making their getaway.

Breaking news: Nearly a quarter of FBI agents across the country are currently reassigned to immigration enforcement.

The large number of reassignments reflect a vast reshaping of the agency and could put other priorities at risk.

Nearly a quarter of FBI agents are currently reassigned to immigration enforcement, with the number climbing above 40 percent in the bureau’s largest field offices.

Picture how big the Hoover Dam is. An absolute unit. The Hoover Dam has a power capacity of 2 gigawatts (GW).

The solar farm that the Admin just cancelled could have produces 6.2 GW of power. That's more than 3 Hoover Dams.

SCOOP: The Bureau of Land Management says the largest solar project in Nevada — the Esmeralda 7 mega-farm — has been canceled

The news was quietly dropped via a sudden website update with no public word from any of the companies involved or a statement from the agency

Perry: The federal government is "temporarily enjoined from ordering the federalization and deployment of the National Guard of the United States within Illinois."

That's it. Thanks again for following.

Additional emails might already be designed and scheduled to go out. My guess is once a future eblast is scheduled, your address is already "baked into" that send batch despite opting out of further-in-the-future emails.

Perry begins her questions:
"The filing says that a minimum of 500 National guard troops have been deployed to Illinois. What is the maximum?"
"The filing says the troops will be deployed primarily in Cook County. I don’t see that as having any guardrails."
Hamilton has no answers.

I'm really glad more people are realizing how brutal ICE has been in Chicago but it's really weird to see people talking about Rev Black getting attacked like it happened yesterday and not 3 weeks ago. Like, I'm glad people are catching up! But it's very weird.

🔥 On this night in 1871, the Great Chicago Fire began in the O’Leary barn. Cameras existed—but early ones were too slow to capture the chaos. What we have instead: Currier & Ives lithographs and a cry that still defines us “CHICAGO SHALL RISE AGAIN!” 💪 https://bit.ly/3ZIjjDI

One of the (many) legal gaps that needs to be filled after this nightmare is over is to prohibit federal law enforcement agencies from using federal funds to create propaganda videos with anyone in custody. This is all about spectacle and content creation, remove the incentive and the means

Weird how that didn’t make the cut.
