It's a lot pearl clutching I notice from local officials to deflect from our towns being so car-centric and bike-hostile. So they don't have to do the hardwork of making areas more accessible/safe for pedestrians and bikers
One reason I get so mad about the panic over e-motos/e-bikes and relative collective shrug over car deaths is that the risks to the public aren't the same. With e-motos the biggest risk of injury is to the rider, meanwhile with cars there is a major risk to people outside of the vehicle.
