“This is insane. What are we doing? I mean, this is absolutely ridiculous. Have we not learned the lessons of the last 20 years of forever wars? We have a lot of problems in America today and putting troops on the ground to occupy and run Venezuela does not solve any of them.” —Rep. Seth Moulton

People who are saying that Trump's new National Security Strategy should not be taken seriously should ask themselves this: Was it right or wrong not to take Project 2025 seriously?

Not enough people are talking about this:

Even before Trump cut off SNAP funding, he and Republicans in Congress made the biggest cuts to food assistance in U.S. history.

FORGET about 2026 and 2028 for the next 10 days.

Focus on elections in 2025. There are **52,000** of them, according to @hcrichardson.bsky.social, and they all matter.
If Dems win the Supreme Court races in Pennsylvania in 9 days, it’s extremely likely the GOP can’t get a majority on that court until 2029.

The GOP really wants to have this majority during the 2028 presidential race.

Can’t put the stakes any more clearly than that. boltsmag.org/pennsylvania...
Inside the Clunky Elections to Control Pennsylvania's Supreme Court - Bolts
The GOP is making an expensive push to end Democrats’ majority on a court at the center of election lawsuits, sparking a fledging campaign season with little precedent or template.

This is due to a law signed by Ronald Reagan and has nothing to do with this shutdown fight.

But consider this...

Emergency Medicaid spending in 2023 cost $3.8 billion — just 0.4% of total Medicaid spending.

Now what about the $20 billion taxpayers are giving to Argentina?
Leavitt: "When an illegal alien goes to the emergency room, who's paying for it? The American taxpayer."

Pritzker: "One of the reasons Trump wants to send troops into cities is bc he wants to be able to take control of the 2026 elections...if they've got troops in cities, & it becomes a kind of norm for people, then it won't be abnormal for them when they're going to vote having troops at ballot boxes"

The demographics of this crowd are so notable.
In #Rochester, #NewYork, 100 marched to surround a house where roofers were being detained by ICE. While one person was taken, several others were left alone as the crowd "shouted “shame” and "Gestapo,” and applauded as agents...drove...away on four flat tires." www.wxxinews.org/local-news/2...
ICE agents in the Park Ave neighborhood spark large-scale protest
The group shouted “shame” and "Gestapo,” and applauded as agents in the ICE-led action drove a Border Patrol SUV away on four flat tires, which had been slashed.

One of the most remarkable things of the last 9 months is how many Americans seem to believe the President is all powerful and Congress has no say.
Actually Congress has been ineffective by choice. It has immense power if it had the courage to use it.

Today we learned that in June the US economy lost jobs for the first time since 2020. We haven’t seen this kind of net job loss since - well, since the last time Trump was in charge.

J.B. Pritzker is 100% right.

Please listen to him, pay attention, and join us in speaking out against authoritarianism and to protect free and fair elections.
Pritzker on Trump sending troops into cities: "He has other aims other than fighting crime... he would like to stop the elections in 2026 or frankly take control of those elections. He'll just claim there's some problem with an election and then he's got troops on the ground that can take control."

It’s about priorities.

✋ DC resident here.

This characterization of the District is of course absurd.

Miller is essentially declaring "Mission Accomplished" after the troop deployment to DC, but the Trump administration's militarized authoritarian theater has nothing to do with public safety.
Stephen Miller on DC residents: "For the first time in their lives, they can use the parks, they can walk on the streets. You have people who can walk freely at night without having to worry about being robbed or mugged. They are wearing their watches again."

As a survivor of SA, this is a gentle reminder that The Epstein Files are about the under age children who were bought and sold and repeatedly r@ped by old, rich, white men, all supplied by Ghislaine Maxwell, Donald Trump’s friend.

They are not, in fact, about Donald Trump.
