The prize is inspired by the legacy of Felix Jud, a bookseller, who refused to bow down to the Nazi regime. He was imprisoned in 1943 and survived the Concentration Camp Neuengamme @neuengamme-mem.bsky.social. His shop is still one of Hamburg’s most traditional and beloved literary institutions.

Alan Gilbert, Chefdirigent des NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchesters, war von 1995 bis 1997 sein Assistent und blieb seinem Mentor freundschaftlich verbunden. Vor Funk, Satelliten und vor der @elbphilharmonie.de: Auf dem alten Kaispeicher A, wo heute die Elphi steht, diente ab 1876 ein schwarzer Ball mit eineinhalb Metern Durchmesser als Zeitsignal. Er hing an einem Gerüst auf der Spitze, täglich um 12 Uhr (Greenwich) fiel der Zeitball 3 Meter nach unten.

Es gibt Projekte, die bringen ein ganzes (Konzert-)Haus zum schwärmen. Projektleitung, Technik, Cafeteria-Mitarbeiter:innen. Wirklich alle, mit denen ich über die Jazz Academy gesprochen habe. Auch für das Abendblatt war der Abschluss in der @Elbphilharmonie.de »ein Höhepunkt des Konzertjahres«.
Elbphilharmonie: Und dann liegen sich alle glücklich in den Armen
Begeisterung auf und vor der Bühne beim Abschlusskonzert der Jazz Academy in der Elbphilharmonie. Wer dabei in Hamburg besonderen Dank verdient.
