Any person in uniform wearing a mask and refusing to be properly and reliably identified should be assumed to be the same kind of murderer we’ve seen in Minnesota.
Shooters were dressed like law enforcement and this is exactly why I’m pissed about ice officers wearing masks, driving unmarked cars and not being identifiable when they terrorize communities

Fuck Bibi.

If our nation survives beyond the current administration, we need to talk about serious law enforcement reform.

Use of force rules, laws regulating body cams so they can actually be used for accountability, and we need legislation the bans LEOs from covering their faces, names and badges.

Note: A regular citizen should also not be subjected to this. Annoying a politician is (supposedly) still not a crime.
A DHS spokesperson defended the detainment, accusing Sen. Padilla of failing to properly identify himself during Sec. Kristi Noem's press conference.

But multiple videos show Padilla clearly identifying himself as a senator.
Sen. Padilla pushed to ground, handcuffed for demanding DHS not lie
Forcibly removing a sitting US senator, as they opposed the president's immigration policy, is a part of a broader slide.

The extent to which The Discourse is revolving around how voters are going to feel about X or Y in 2026 or 2028 feels increasingly like denial. It is harder & harder for me to imagine a scenario where Trump remains in office another 3+ years and we have meaningfully free elections.
we are still under the six month mark for a couple weeks and it is incredibly difficult to see how this is sustainable for 3.5 more years

Everything that’s happened over the past six months has been a response to an imaginary crisis. There is no immigrant invasion. No trade crisis. No scientific or governance crisis. Just people completely high off their own supply trying to fundamentally reorder society. None of this had to happen.

not the main issue here but i'd really appreciate it if democratic politicians spoke out in support of big-city life and culture with the same energy and reverence that all politicians have for small towns

los angeles is "real america" and so are all the other big cities the president hates

The new "Trump is ingeniously trying to cause a recession" theory reminds me of a similar moment in the occupation of Iraq. A bit more than a year in, it wasn't going well. The US military was trying to overcome a protracted and deepening insurgency. The last WMD diehards had taken the L.

Given the influx of new users, and because I have a sense of irony, I present now my blocking policy for Bluesky, which I encourage others to adopt if it fits their needs. Why let a jerk mess with you when you can just block them and never think about them again? It's magic! Magic, I tell you!
Also FYI, my blocking policy for BlueSky is:

- no strikes
- no warnings
- no hesitation
- no mercy

The first time I see an account be phobic, trollish or sea lion-y, to me or anyone, that's it, out of the pool, I won't even snark at you first, you do not deserve my delicious scorn, just gone, bye.
