And we have ideas to help fix it.

New report, friends, hot off the presses!

“Just keep the eggheads who tell us when it’s gonna rain,” it turns out, doesn’t really work
Atmospheric sciences spans from climate scale to microscale - just like the atmosphere itself - and the Trump Administration's plans to dismantle NCAR and somehow protect "vital weather research" shows a complete lack of understanding for how science works. tinyurl.com/3rtpafnx
Trump Administration announces plans to dismantle the National Center for Atmospheric Research and close its famed Mesa Lab
Shortsighted plan would (in my view) cause irreparable harm to global atmospheric science research

Streetcar walked and stumbled and died so bus priority could run
"We believe it is absolutely right… that having dedicated right of way will turn [H Street] into a high-capacity corridor, much more than we have today," says Clarke on possible bus rapid transit options.

When illegal slave ships were intercepted by British, French, Portuguese and other antislavery patrols in the 1800s, African captives were not freed - they were sent into indentured servitude. More than 700,000 souls. It’s a huge story in the history of abolition.

Imagining this for more traditional financing approaches lol. Some collage of road resurfacing pics under the caption, “A bond did that!”
City of Atlanta has upped its PR for extending old tax increment financing districts until 2055 by cherry-picking likable projects & implying they can only be funded via TIFs/TADs (rather than general revenue spending/bonds). It’s really that TADs give mayor largely unaccountable spending authority.

No one’s complex and tragic yet kitsch like Gaston
He’s a circle that begs to be squared
It’s a tentpole, a four-quadrant hit
Yes his backstory’s moving and layered
And it’s starring a CGI de-aged Brad Pitt

Will the idea of asylum, idea that being a refugee means anything legally survive this admin. If not, what will take its place
With the Trump admin's web of "safe third country" agreements in place, the ultimate goal of the admin to deal with 3.5 million pending asylum applications appears to be just refusing to hear any of them — convincing people to withdraw their applications or be deported to third countries instead.
