Gonna be thinking about this lede for a minute.
(RNS) — Last month, the Rev. David Black stood in front of a Chicago-area U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility and spread his arms wide. Adorned in all black and wearing a clerical collar, the pastor looked up at a group of masked, heavily armed ICE agents on the roof and began to pray.

“I invited them to repentance,” Black, a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), said in an interview. “I basically offered an altar call. I invited them to come and receive that salvation, and be part of the kingdom that is coming.”

But when Black began to lower his arms a few seconds later, the agents responded to his spiritual plea by firing pepper balls, or chemical agents that cause eye irritation and respiratory distress, video footage shows. One struck Black in the head, exploding into a puff of white pepper smoke and forcing him to his knees. Fellow demonstrators rushed to his aid, and as the pastor rubbed his face in pain, the agents continued to fire.

“We could hear them laughing,” Black said.

I feel like the GOP didn’t count on six months of layoffs and the dangling threat of getting fired softening the blow of a shutdown. Harder to use an operating federal government as leverage when some random Trump flunky can decide to fuck up your life on a whim.

(Politico) - One week into the government shutdown, top Republican leaders appear to have lost the plot.

My kid's school had put up a wishlist. This isn't a rich area, lots of families here rely on WIC and jobs at the Navy shipyard, which means the government shutdown is really going to hurt. These snacks are easy to hand to kids at the end of the day or before a weekend www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/...

Lobby card for DEAD & BURIED (1981)

Directed by Gary Sherman

Written by Ronald Shusett and Dan O'Bannon, the latter of whom was BOTD in 1946

O'Bannon also penned the screenplay for ALIEN, based on a story he and Shusett wrote together
Lobby card features a photo of a woman in a nurse's outfit getting ready to stab a man wrapped in bandages in the eye with a needle.

gotta say I don't think it's a great sign for society that the top editor of a major American news outlet thinks we're in a "fight for the West." (against WHOM, Bari?)

Dunno man, seems a little misleading to write an article about Trump describing activity in Portland and Chicago as “insurrection” with a 33 year old photo of a burning donut shop taken in the 1992 LA Riots (sans caption explaining that) as the header on all your posts about it.
The picture from
The article with a picture of an armed men standing in front of a burning donut shop. You must click through to read the caption “
Two National guardsmen stand guard outside a burning donut shop in Los Angeles on April 30, 1992.
The National Guard was called in to aid police during the second day of rioting in the city.”

Thinking how Stephen Bannon got fired in 2017 because Trump got mad that people were saying he's the real president. Probably wouldn't work with Miller because they only feed Trump AI slop now. They got him in the Professor X rig watching videos of himself leading troops in battle
