Writer, director, actor...but finance officer is the one that pays the bills.
The diversity in our PMs has minorities being like, 'no, not that one!'
If Wes Streeting becomes the first gay PM... that would be in keeping with bad rep for minorities in UK government.

I read The Eye of the Storm by Patrick White on a school trip aged ten or eleven. It was on a lending shelf in the place we stayed at and from the title and cover I thought it was fantasy. It's the first time I'd read such a horrid character that was so compelling but you also had sympathy for
performative reading, lack of reading skills, nobody's reading anymore -- NO!

tell me about a book that changed you

for me? the *extremely* ahistorical novel, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY which I read at 13 and was like, "Oh, art can be *everything* to a maker, for good and bad"

I remember this getting a pretty lukewarm reception on release but it's one of my favourite DiCaprio films and Scorsese films

So now Starmer has got his goons to brief everyone that he's not leaving, he'll definitely be gone by Christmas, right?

At least she's acknowledging being gender critical is a right wing bias
I see Helen Lewis is now moaning about how "gender criticals" were marginalised by the BBC who wouldn't let them "debate" trans people's existence freely! It really is a cult

A black tie suit with Bond nips...is it too much to ask!?
honestly i just want a camp Bond movie. can we get a Bond Boy or is that too far
November 11, 2025 at 4:32 PM
I thought the whole point is that James Bond is like a code name and they're not literally the same person portrayed by different actors?
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

Like the Guardian, people view the BBC as left wing and, as a result, their combined anti trans campaigning has done more damage to trans people than the entire right wing media machine, because they legitimised the right wing's lies.

Does anyone genuinely believe Labour are 'the party of the left' any longer? Starmer hasn't exactly been subtle in his regime of purging the left of the party since becoming leader of Labour and appeasing Reform policies since becoming PM

I'm sorry @midnightpals.bsky.social but Mary Shelley is going to have to have a word with GDT about using a Byron quote at the end of his Frankenstein film

Maybe Keir should demand the heads of major US news networks any time they imply Britain is on the brink of civil war or that we live under sharia law. Or does it not work both ways?

It might be my lack of moral scruples but I truly love people like Joyce Carol Oates and Azealia Banks who sometimes post things I find repugnant but then come out with a total banger in a way that I just have to stan

Looks like if the government want to change the downfall of the BBC particularly the news department they'd need to force the entire board to resign

About once a year Joyce Carol Oates brings me unbridled joy through her tweets and no matter what other opinions she has I am grateful for that
November 9, 2025 at 10:08 PM
And we all cheered!
Oates: [slides shimkomi-zoe between ribs] you seem totally uneducated, uncultred
Oates: [yanks upward] the poorest person on twitter may have more beauty & meaning in life than the most wealthy person in the world
Mary Shelley: holy shit
Shelley: brutal

Difficult to know what to think about the BBC resignations. The mistake was careless and heads definitely should have rolled, but what comes next? Lots of talk about someone shaking things up but we don't want to end up with a UK Bari Weiss in charge of BBC News
