Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade might be the perfect distillation of modern American culture. here’s Ciara performing on a giant surfing elephant float brought to you by the Kalahari Water Parks.

this is absolutely true of me. I’ve had so many conversations since moving across the river about this exact topic. yesterday completely violated my sense of who SPPD are. incredibly important to me that Mayor elect Her set this straight real fast.
Whatever one thought of it in the moment it's clear that a wide swath of Saint Paul residents have given SPPD a lot of good faith assumptions during an era when policing is under greater scrutiny. And I think today is gonna mark a major shift in that sentiment for a significant chunk of citizens.

I am furious and devastated that ICE was once again present in Saint Paul and that federal agents continue to jeopardize the safety and well-being of our residents. The destruction this White House has caused our city in just a matter of days is unconscionable.

one thing I have come to believe, as someone who grew up deeply skeptical of the "authentic expression / sold out" dichotomy is that however true or false it was objectively, the taboo on "selling out" was societally load-bearing

I would love to read an account of this saga that isn’t written in an atrociously purple way but seems like that’s too much to ask of anyone involved

I’ve been incredibly angry for several days now about the story of ICE agents entering a day care in Chicago to detain a teacher. Eventually I wrote that anger down, and got some encouragement to share it.

at my 2 year old’s parent teacher conference just now her teacher said “they say kids aren’t capable of understanding sarcasm until 6 or 7….not your kid! she’s great at it!” so 1. genetics might be real, and 2. I might need to stop saying “that’s so crazy” to my kid so much.

I love that Zohran did not praise Cuomo in his speech. You absolutely do not have to say nice things about bad people. We should normalize that in “polite” politics: Praising bad people is not actually “civility.”

this post is how I found out there was a playoff game tonight. I am a team season ticket holder. I consume a lot of sports media. really hard to overstate how bad the state of MLS is with new/casual fans right now. pretty convinced the Apple TV deal is mostly to blame.
MLS playoff kickoff 4 1/2 hours after sunset. T -60 minutes till things get weird.

“like when the queen chooses a knight to fight in her name” is a phrase that could have saved hockey a lot of PR issues.
There should be a guy one each team whose only job is to fight. Like when the queen chooses a knight to fight in her name.

I don’t think this is the entire problem obviously, but I do think the moment it became socially acceptable for men to start going on television professionally while dressed like this was a real turning point in the decline of polite society.

this country really started to go downhill once NFL teams stopped having training camps on college campuses. Travis Kelce needs to get fined for trying to sneak Taylor Swift into a dorm room with two twin beds pushed together to make something he calls MegaBed. then we can begin to heal.

the worst part of the Wolves deal is that the roster situation is such that the two options for the roster are:

1. the brokest most private equity beholden owners in the league decide they will pay the highest tax bill in the league for the next 3-4 years.

or

2. we get worse.
