I make comics. My new book ONE FOR SORROW out now from DSTLRY. I drew The Wicked & The Divine, wrote Captain Carter, designed Captain Marvel & Ms Marvel, amongst others. I have ADHD if you're wondering why I'm like this. www.jamiemckelvie.fyi

I sort of assume anyone following me already knows a bit about me but maybe not? I'm an artist/writer/designer working mostly in comics. Created The Wicked + The Divine with @kierongillen.bsky.social after our run on Marvel's Young Avengers. Currently writing and drawing ONE FOR SORROW at DSTLRY.
Cover for ONE FOR SORROW #2, drawn by me. The hooded figure of spooky vigilante Magpie faces off against a horde of men carrying various weapons, in a Victorian industrial corridor. Cover for The Wicked + The Divine #1, drawn by me and coloured by Matt Wilson. Series lead Laura Wilson is shown in a headshot style image, with streams of pink and blue light moving around her. Cover the Young Avengers Vol2 complete collection, drawn by me and coloured by Matt Wilson. Drawn from the point of view of someone being lifted up by their shirt by America Chavez, who has a fist up and ready to punch with, the cover shows the rest of the Young Avengers team behind America ready for action.

This is a lie.

There are many criticisms you might sensibly and truthfully make of the Sentencing Council and the Sentencing Guidelines. I’ve been making them for years.

But this is an outright lie. Pure fabrication. A fraud on the public.

In the current climate of far right hostility, Jenrick is actively inciting violence against these judges with this. Badenoch may have defended his explicit racism yesterday, but this alone should see him lose both his position as shadow justice secretary and the whip immediately.

Robert Jenrick names judges he would sack for ‘pro-migrant bias'

The shadow justice secretary has accused 'activists' within the judiciary of having links to political causes that compromise their independence

How are we going to undo all of this?

Awful. It's been altered in so many ways beyond "colourisation". The kid has an entirely different face! AI is being used in so many ways to undermine history, information, even reality.

On a gradient background that goes from blush-pink at the top to a muddy green at the bottom, a book cover. Super-imposed on a pastoral, oil-painting style image depicting a forested foreground and a hilly background beneath a soft champagne sky, is superimposed a 3-dimensional rhomboid-shape, the facets of which play with space. One facet shows a pale cloudy sky, and from it, a brown hare emerges chasing the hind legs and bushy tail of a wolf, the rest of which vanishes out of the rhomboid frame. The rhomboid's other facets -- which create the kind of infinity loop of an Escher painting -- are either blush-pink or covered in the greenery from the background. Above the rhomboid is the title, and the subtitle "Stories"; below it are the words New York Times Bestselling & Award-winning Author Amal El-Mohtar. My name and the word "Stories" are in the same blush-pink as the rhomboid's facets.

Gonna be thinking about this lede for a minute.
(RNS) — Last month, the Rev. David Black stood in front of a Chicago-area U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility and spread his arms wide. Adorned in all black and wearing a clerical collar, the pastor looked up at a group of masked, heavily armed ICE agents on the roof and began to pray.

“I invited them to repentance,” Black, a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), said in an interview. “I basically offered an altar call. I invited them to come and receive that salvation, and be part of the kingdom that is coming.”

But when Black began to lower his arms a few seconds later, the agents responded to his spiritual plea by firing pepper balls, or chemical agents that cause eye irritation and respiratory distress, video footage shows. One struck Black in the head, exploding into a puff of white pepper smoke and forcing him to his knees. Fellow demonstrators rushed to his aid, and as the pastor rubbed his face in pain, the agents continued to fire.

“We could hear them laughing,” Black said.

Posted to the Southern Reach Reddit...
Southern Reach told me Area X keep eatinh his expeditions so I asked how many expeditions he has and he said he just goes to the shelter and gets a new expeditions afterwards so I said it sounds like he's just feeding expeditions to Area X and then his daughter started crying.

As one of the countless people *actually* cancelled by Bari Weiss, via her vast favor-trading networks of fellow nepotistic gatekeepers in media and publishing, I think both of these asinine dipshits should go fuck themselves.
Matt Yglesias QT'ing Corey Walker

I didn’t rejoice at her cancellation and got cancelled myself at roughly the same time, but I am sincerely jealous that no regime-aligned billionaire has even fit to curry favor with the Trump administration by giving me a huge sum of money.

The vitriol against Bari Weiss is just thinly-veiled jealousy by people who rejoiced at "cancelling" her in 2020 and are furious she managed to get fabulously wealthy in an infamously brutal and low-paying industry.

Apparently it’s 176 years today since Edgar Allan Poe died, which I didn’t know when I sat down to start painting this.

I'd add this. Although human rights are universal, those who most need the shelter they provide are those without money and power and who are politically targeted. The cost of the Supreme Court's choice to "edit the Human Rights Act out of existence" will be born most heavily by them.

It's difficult to read this piece without asking yourself whether you need to be foreign to see England for what it is. It's difficult, too, to read it because doing so is to be reminded, again, how much we will miss Conor Gearty. www.lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v4...

I need people to stop referring to conversion "therapy" as something that's been discredited or doesn't work. That's like saying torture is "discredited" or doesn't work. That they don't work for their stated purpose is secondary to the fact that they DO work for their REAL purpose:
