I misremember who said it but the line "he was elected precisely because he had no redeeming qualities, it was a message sent to the first black president that the worst most unqualified white man would be given what the most erudite black man worked his whole life to achieve" was always all of it

Autism is a new thing. Your grandpa with six train sets in the basement and who could tell you every caliber of hunting ammunition ever manufactured but always wore his socks inside out was just really into his hobbies and cared about comfort.
RFK Jr: I've never seen a case of full-blown autism in a 70-year-old man. You're only seeing it in the kids. It's an epidemic.

I think there's just a fundamental divide between people who can see LLMs for what they are – a fundamentally toxic technology that can only ever generate negative outcomes; a machine for lying at scale – and people whose brains shut off because the computer is talking back to them.

i have said this before but when “getting rid of race in admissions” for the administration means “you can’t even try to reach out to underrepresented communities and encourage them to apply and if you do it is illegal discrimination against white people” then the actual goal here is segregation

One policy solution to Young Men we should be considering is Universal Basic Electric Guitar (UBEG). I'm not joking, by the way. Kids of any gender should get a low-cost starter kit for some hobby of their choosing once they turn 13. A camera, paints, a cheap sampler, etc.

Even as I write this, I’m reminded that this country is so inured to violence—particularly against black men—that the man who literally strangled Jordan Neely to death on the subway was not only found not guilty, but rewarded with a job in Silicon Valley and a box seat at the Army-Navy game.
