To the powerful, everything is money.
Crime reporting is manipulated to scare people into accepting a militarized police state with surveillance of the public.

When they have this, they have access to total power (fascism) & control over our labor/finances/resources/health.

It's all about extraction of all they can from us.
These declines are MASSIVE.

And the comparative silence in media coverage is absolutely DAMNING.

“Why are ppl always so afraid of crime?”

THIS is why. When crime goes up, media trips over itself to report it.

Falls to pre-war (!!) levels? Just CRICKETS.

I count 10 cities in 2025 that are on track to have the fewest murders since at least 1970. Newark is on pace to have the fewest murders since 1956 (though only have data through Oct this year) and San Francisco is on pace to have the fewest murders since 1942.

Sometimes I wish we could exploit the villains' incompetencies without telling them exactly how we did so, so they can be sure to not make the same mistakes next time

Gotta get this off my chest:

The Wizard of Oz & Wicked are both treasures, but somehow they both miss the genius of the book: that *everything* is tongue-in-cheek.

The scarecrow is the smartest character, the tin man is the most empathetic...

Gah!

People say boycotts don't work, meanwhile Canada is out here putting labels on every single item in the grocery store so you know who to buy and shutting down factories like they're millenials killing the diamond industry

How does one type the words "We [as a species] are running out of good ideas" & not immediately combust?

we don't know how many people we love
until we lose them one by one

We’re not running out of good ideas, but the tech fetishists who have no ideas other than “but I put a lot of money and emotion into this basket” always do, and their narcissism does not allow them to consider that their failed ideas suck, and the flop sweat is palpable.

I'm now a fully fledged cinephile, casual filmmaker, writer, director, & rather obsessive about directorial style, but back in the day, Rob Reiner was the first director I knew by name.

A legend, a giant, an artist, & by all accounts a good man who bridged genres without the baggage of sexism

At SNL I worked with artists who made the funniest, stupidest graphics in no time flat. Some of my biggest jokes would have been impossible without these geniuses building an insane image or finding the perfect real-life photo of a politician. Sucks that their work is being pushed aside for slop.
SNL used AI art tonight, multiple times.

Booooooo.

SO BORED with how news/politics has devolved into arguing things we already know.

Is murdering innocent people bad? YES. Should the victims have stopped it somehow? NO. Is kidnapping bad? YES. Is it their fau- NO!!

What are we doing here??

Due to some very sad circumstances, this lovely pup Luna is now in need of a home. If you're in the Atlanta area and you're looking to bring a dog into your world, Luna would be a fantastic addition to your family. If not, please just share this for a signal boost. lifelineanimal.org/pet-details/...

Masculinity has long defined itself as the negative space surrounding the "female" and "gay" spheres and as those spheres have expanded, "men" have felt cornered. Now they've added a "left" sphere to avoid and have almost no room to enjoy anything.
So many men go through life like that. You can play poker because it's right-coded, you can't enjoy fruity alcoholic drinks because they're women-coded, you can't lick an ice cream cone because it's gay-coded. All day, every day, choosing and judging things based on coding for narrow norms.

Endlessly infuriating that the actor in Everything Everywhere All At Once most deserving of an Oscar was literally the only actor in the movie not to get at Oscar.
