News on freedom of expression from the US.
This is the interview Donald Trump didn’t want you to see.

His FCC refused to air my interview with Stephen Colbert.

Trump is worried we’re about to flip Texas.

Washington understood the dangers of dictatorship.
“In Washington’s graceful departure, after serving two terms in office, he laid the foundation for the tradition of the peaceful transfer of power—what became the most American of acts by leaders who valued democracy and loved their country more than power itself.” open.substack.com/pub/america/...
Washington Warned Us About Trump
Our first president valued national unity and feared a despot who would exploit "the ruins of public liberty." A reminder for this Presidents’ Day.

AOC’s biggest problem if she runs for president is that the white men who control our media ecosystem will not so much put a finger on the scale to stop her as an entire hand

it can be done (see: Zohran) but it’s going to be blatant and it’s going to be infuriating
Have you ever once seen the New York Times quote Trump like this?

That sentence jumped out at me, too. As if Trump simply was unaware that he was becoming a dictator.

We need to prepare ourselves because Trump is going to announce a deal that essential his terms of surrender for Ukraine. Everyone should act like it's a g-damn joke at best and a payoff for Putin's help in three elections at worst.

Hungary holds elections in 2 months. And the US Secretary of State is in Hungary campaigning for Viktor Orban. And as you can see, Russian state media loves it.

no one ever asked republicans for specific details on how “mass deportations” would work and now here we are
Remarkable: Majority of working class voters oppose deportations of undocumented immigrants with jobs/no criminal records, per new Marquette data.

Remember how pundits said 2024 meant Dems must become restrictionist to win back working class? I challenge that here:

Gift article: "We won’t get anything resembling democracy until we clear that widespread debris, and that means sending a bunch of these liars to prison, because they are the real criminals. America desperately needs truth and consequences."
The lying is out of control. People need to go to prison. | Will Bunch
The outrageous lies of the Trump regime, from ICE shootings to a commerce secretary's Epstein falsehoods, must be punished.

When the headlines says the opposite of what the article says. Did AI write the headline?
Fully realize it's cliche at this point to complain about bad headlines / subheads / etc, but this sort of thing still agitates me

it really can't be said enough that this is a person who has dined with the president of the united states
Fuentes then fantasizes about “breeding gulags”: “So just like Hitler imprisoned Gypsies, Jews, communists, you know, all of his political rivals, we have to do the same thing with women… They go to the breeding gulags. The good ones will be liberated. The bad ones will toil in the mines forever.”

Ending this operation is not enough.

We need justice and accountability. That starts with independent investigations into the murders of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, economic restitution for businesses impacted, abolishing ICE, and the impeachment of Kristi Noem.
